In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. Our menu offers comfort food classics, and our entire menu is offered all day long. Whether you are craving pancakes at 8 pm or pot roast at 8 am – we’ve got something for everyone. The food was just good, not extraordinary. The place was busy, we were immediately seated, which was good, but the server forgot about us for about 45 min. She finally came back to take our order and looked completely stressed. I’m not sure if they need more help or if she doesn’t do well under pressure. I gave them 4 stars because we we’re immediately seated, and the food was good.

It was on a busy Sunday brunch hour but we got in quick just under 5 minutes! Had a nice spot right under the A/C. Service was kind and quick. Food took a bit but it was busy so that was fine. I enjoyed an iced vanilla cold brew and so did my hubby. Our food was delicious, hot and fresh! I got the club sandwich with fries and my hubbs got the chicken and waffles. Very yummy and filling. Got out at a good time. We were on our way home from a road trip and this place was awesome to stop at. Would definitely visit this location again while on the road. Took half of my sandwich and fries with me plus two chicken strips from the chicken & waffles meal which made a great road snack for the rest of our 2 hr drive.
