In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. After a wonderful experience at the Tomball location I came here to redeem my birthday reward!! The server Jesse was super welcoming and friendly! He never rushed us and answered any questions we had regarding the menu. Now the food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the Bear Breakfast with blueberry pancakes, 2 sausage links, and scrambled eggs. The blueberries included in the pancake were a perfect balance between tart and sweet! They complimented the sweet cream pancakes very well!!! The breakfast club was also a good savory choice. It is on the saltier side due to all the fixings and the parmesan cheese crust, but it was delicious nonetheless!! The portions are also very filling and you honestly can’t go wrong with any of their menu items. The restaurant itself is very clean and the restrooms are very well maintained!!! This location will definitely be my go to in the future.

Black Bear Diner in The Woodlands feels like a cozy mountain cabin dropped right into Texas ️ . If you love that out-west, lodge-in-the-woods vibe, this place nails it. I ordered a big breakfast plate with blueberry pancakes , three eggs , cheesy hash browns with grilled onions , six strips of bacon , biscuit and gravy, plus orange juice and Nicaraguan coffee ☕.
The blueberry pancakes were the star, buttery, fresh, and packed with flavor — easy 10/10 . Eggs were cooked just right, another 10/10. Bacon was a solid 8/10, flavorful and satisfying. Hash browns were good but a little too crispy for me, 7/10. Biscuit and gravy hit the spot, gravy 8/10, biscuit 7/10. The Nicaraguan coffee was smooth and nutty with a hint of chocolate, 9/10 — perfect for a slow “mountain morning” .
Service really stood out. My food came out in about seven minutes ⏱️, and the staff were friendly, funny, and full of good energy. Shoutout to my waiter Jesse for great service .
Overall experience 9/10 ⭐. If you want hearty comfort food and a little mountain-cabin escape, this spot is worth the trip. Just come hungry — their bear-sized portions are no joke ️.

What an amazing place! It has a very relaxed atmosphere with a lovely staff that goes out of their way to make sure that you’re well taken care of. The food was so fabulous that we went back again for dinner on the same day! The prices are very reasonable, and it’s a great value for the money! Five all around!

This is a great place for a big gathering! We went for a birthday and loved the breakfasts—they are truly delicious, just be warned that the portions are massive, making them perfect for sharing. The bright bear decorations add a unique and cheerful ambiance. While the restaurant was packed, the short waitlist of only 20-30 minutes kept things moving smoothly.

I finally got a chance to try this place. I see what people mean about the big portions! Large pancakes! I’ll have to work out twice as much tomorrow! First time ever being here. Location was definitely a bit understaffed but our waiter was still very responsive even with a breakfast rush. The decor when you come in is what you expect, Black Bears EVERYWHERE haha. The diner is in a great location where you’re in a market area right off the highway surrounded by trees. Family loved it and the food was just amazing. We got pancakes, eggs benedict, and I got a breakfast melt. The pancakes not only were very delicious but they were GIANT. I swear this place beats out IHOP and Dennys in every category possible. You can feed a ton of people here for a great price. Overall we loved it here and we will be back here in the future.

Our first visit (8/22) and my husband and I were overall pleased. Large portions, fair prices, great customer service from our server, food tasted great, food came out in a timely manner. Only thing for me was that the side of red potatoes I got lacked seasoning/flavor. Had I not got them topped with bacon and cheese I feel I would have been disappointed. I tasted a few potatoes that were not covered in cheese nor bacon and they lacked flavor other than that all of it was good. I did also ask for an additional to go order of the same meat lovers omelet to go for my son to try (he was not with us) and he ate the entire thing. We will be back soon.

We got Married the day before and the next morning decided to meet some of the people who attended our wedding there for breakfast. I enjoyed to ambiance immediately and the service was tip notch! My new Husband and I even took a pic with Black Bear!!! Awesome team and the food came out hot and fresh!
