In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. Our menu offers comfort food classics, and our entire menu is offered all day long. Whether you are craving pancakes at 8 pm or pot roast at 8 am – we’ve got something for everyone. Classic diner dishes with bear sized portions. Make sure you come with an appetite and streetchy because you will leave full and happy. The food here is really good and they have some surprising hits on the menu, like the chicken fried steak benedicts. My parents and siblings love it, and so does my lawyer. Good place for a good meal without breaking the bank. Our experience with staff is always good too which we appreciate.

Bears, bears, bears all around. True to its name. Service and atmosphere was great. Pancakes and cheese omelets were very good. I will say their hash browns are on the bland side and their Shasta Veggie scramble was heavy on the onion side but overall not bad at all. Will love to come again.

Came in with my family and the service was excellent. Was very busy and had a little bit of a wait but they were very organized. We had Jessie as our server and was an absolutely joy to have around. Was very friendly and made the experience very enjoyable. Kitchen was busy, but he came back and checked up on us and made sure we were doing okay and gave us updates. The team there seemed very happy and their manager Enrique even came out to check on tables, one being us, and saw he was helping out around the store as well. Good to see that there is still strong leadership out there. Will be back again
