Nice staff, excellent food and the portions are big. This is small Bacon Cheeseburger. I had the meatloaf which has Italian bits of sausage.

Arrived late in San Antonio and wasn’t sure what to eat, saw the menu ahead of time. We saw comfort food so we decided on it. The waitress was so sweet and kind. No wait, menu was styled as a newspaper so cool and authentic (kept one for a keepsake). We got both sizes of the chicken fried steak and the kids mini volcano. We got dessert to go: Banana Cream Pie and chocolate cake. Food was so delicious! We are definitely coming back! Such a great atmosphere!

Perfection all the way around! Our waitress was really friendly and provided great service. The portions were generous and the food was delicious! Great value for your money! It has a cute rustic cabin atmosphere, and a little gift shop. My boyfriend had the burger, and I had the waffles. (I ordered the guac extra). I really appreciate little details like the bear paw print on the waffle. It was a 30 minute drive for us, but it was more than worth it! We’ll be back!

Had a great experience for my first time dining here. Service was exceptional; seated, and served our hot food within 20 minutes. Adam, our waiter, was fantastic. The food was so good and huge portions. This is a hidden, in plain sight, gem. Definitely will be back for more.

It’s a truck stop diner. The food is great. Portions are excellent. Absolutely the BEST hashbrowns i believe I’ve ever eaten! Kevin or waiters made dinner enjoyable. His service was right on point. Checked in on us, but not over bearing.

Seriously one of my favorite places for breakfast at night! French toast and biscuits are just so flavorful! They grind their own sausage and you can tell. Service is always great too!

I had just finished reading the Blacc Bear Diner credo when it stated that you’ll never leave hongry and they give take home portions.

Had some time on my hands before my next piccup and wanted to get out my rolling bunker and be around some other huemans.

Being accustomed to Waffle House proportions (shots fired ), I didn’t expect much. Boy I was HELLA wrong.

I love the nature aspect of the place and the obvious southern hospitality. My waitress, Jayliah, was attentive and sweet. She deserved that whole tip and a raise.

As a country bumpkin from Sweet Home Alabama, I continue to fall deeper in love with Texas the more I travel up and dine these highways as these 18 wheels turn.

️All Iron Skillets need to be replaced with Blacc Bear Diners

Geah, I said it. Until next time San Antonio!

The Black Bear regional manager strikes again. So one of the traveling managers in Texas keeps going around to the truck stop locations and illegally posting up the red 51% no guns sign. No Black Bear has a red alcohol license and this makes Black Bear and Petro liable if anyone is ever falsely arrested at the store for carrying a firearm.

Chicken fried steak was great today.

I am leaving this review for my fiancé Devin.. he doesn’t normally leave reviews or say to much about things but he bragged about how good the food was here and the biscuits were huge that he probably should have just ordered one. lol. Very impressed by his drink always being replaced before it was empty which almost never happens anywhere you go. Kudos for these folks for giving outstanding service and awesome food.

Super disappointed with this visit. I convinced my family to come because last time, our food was the best I’d tasted in San Antonio in a while. This time, the portions were ridiculously small, and the onion rings were so oily they weren’t even edible. Really unfortunate drop in quality — I expected much better based on our last experience.

This was a cool find. The first time I saw Black Bear Cafe was in NC. I’m super happy to see them in SA. Apparently there are several of them. This one is attached to a gas station. The service was a little slow but the food was great and the portions are big. Very filling. They do have deserts but be ready to pay $9 for a slice of pie. While I have paid $9 for a slice of pie before, this did not meet the $9 quality. Maybe $5-$6 at best. Skip the desert but the food was good. Service was great and family friendly environment.
