In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. We received are food quickly. Our server was thorough: coffee always topped, ice cream brought out after lunch, and was quick to bring us things requested dispute being busy. Probably the best service I can remember having.
The food is always awesome. Large portions and worth the reasonable price. I always take half home.

I love coming into black dude diner for breakfast and the whole atmosphere is very nice. Great French toast and tri tip and delicious biscuits. Christina and Kennedy are both great servers and quick to help. The hot coco is also very rich and delicious

This was our first dinner at the bear and it was great. I loved the pot pie. I have to give a special shout-out to the server with the stache. After our meal, we asked if he could make a banana split. He did not disappoint! I suspect this gentleman will be moving up in the world at a rapid pace because of his ability to think out side of the box and produce in such short notice. Also, this should be on the menu.

The food is so good. They were charging people so thank goodness a manager I believe stepped up and delivered our food and gave very excellent service. I appreciated that and very friendly she was. They do good teamwork there One needs to go or something they help each other out. I always have so much food left over I take it all home. If you want some good cornbread get it there you want good food just get there and get it. It’s not Burger King or McDonald’s the food cost more of course because it’s good hardy food with very large portions . I’ve always had a very good meal whenever I go. Only once that I have trouble getting my food in a timely fashion it. It was because I don’t believe the cook was fully trained or wasn’t reading everything? The once again a manager stepped up. Thank you for doing that. You’re happy to make you happy

Enjoyed having breakfast at this beautifully designed restaurant. My server, Jamie provided good service and ensured we got great, hot, and tasty meals to start off the day. The kids meal comes with a fun sundae which is great for the kids. I would dine here again!

The service was exceptional and the ambiance was outstanding, particularly appealing to children. The cuisine was satisfactory but not outstanding. I opted for a Cesar salad with my dinner, however, the amount of dressing applied was excessive, and it was evidently prepared prior to delivery as the romaine lettuce had lost its crispness by the time it reached the table. My spouse required additional seasoning on her meal, which is not common for her. We are certainly planning to return, as the service was exceptional and the children were particularly fond of the interior design of the restaurant. We hope that we will be served by a different chef in the future, and that the quality of the food may slightly enhance.

Ordered the Bacon Mac N’ Cheese Bowl and it was ok. I also ordered the chocolate cake and it was pretty good. Overall, the food was alright but what completely made up for it was the exceptional service. Ally was our server and along with having a good personality and sense of humour, she was attentive to my friend and I from the second we were seated, to the time we left. She was very patient with my friend as she pestered her all about her allergy restrictions, truly making this experience stand out. Looking forward to coming back to this restaurant and crossing my fingers to get served by Ally again. Quentin also helped us and was nice as well.

Wow! Black Bear Diner in Newberg is always so amazing and hits the spot. They have a wide variety of food and daily specials. We had prime rib and a southern scramble. The person who sat us (I believe her name was Alma) was so nice and fast and courteous. Our servers name was Kennedy and she was so amazing and made us feel so welcome. We have had Kennedy in the past as well and she is so wonderful. Kennedy definitely deserves a raise. The food was hot and came out very fast. The server came by several times to make sure we had everything we needed. She even stayed and chatted with us for a minute or so. Very family friendly place. I would recommend it to anyone in town.
