In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. Our menu offers comfort food classics, and our entire menu is offered all day long. Whether you are craving pancakes at 8 pm or pot roast at 8 am – we’ve got something for everyone. Located in the central section of the town of Mount Shasta. Good amount of parking in the back. Was seated and left for quite a long while before the waitress took our order. Food was worth the wait! Awesome! Even though it was not crowded we again had to wait and even ask to receive our check. Poor service kept me from giving a five star rating.

We were looking for a quick dinner before sleeping in early while we were in Shasta and found out the original Black bear was close by. It unfortunately didn’t turn out to be quick as getting a table and later the food took a long time. The food though was pretty good for us. We had a Bigfoot Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs with a Huckleberry Lemonade and a Crispy Chicken Bacon Ranch Wrap. The Fried Steak and the gravy were great and the biscuits were also fresh. The wrap was pretty good as well, and the fries were fresh and crispy.
