Our waitress this time tried her best to help our server last visit. Experience shows!! She was Great!
I’ve been thinking about pancakes all week. And black bear diner has some fairly decent sweet cream pancakes. The only thing I don’t like about them is they seem to crumble after you touch them with a fork. Seriously I’ve never seen that happen with a Pancake. From anywhere else.
I also had over medium eggs that were undercooked. Their version of hash browns. Sausage, bacon and ham.
The service here is great. The restaurant is clean. I just wish the food measured up.
There’s an IHOP across the street, but their pancakes are horrible.
The first time we had lunch meals and it was pretty good. The burger was very good and the chicken fried steak was good. Fries were okay, nothing special. The salad had brown pieces that I had to remove before eating. Although their homemade ranch dressing was good. The next two visits were for breakfast. Both times we had the big bear breakfast, eggs your way, choice of a meat, and pancakes, waffles, French toast, or biscuits and gravy(or extra charge for cinnamon roll French toast). Both times the scrambled eggs didn’t seem cooked all the way, even when ordered well done. When I cut into them they were all wet on the inside. Only one piece out of the two pieces of bacon was extra crispy both times. The pancakes and French toast were good during the first breakfast visit. On the second breakfast visit there we were waiting a very long time for our food. The waitress came out and informed us that “they” just told her that they were out of the cinnamon roll French toast so we went with the biscuits and gravy. After waiting quite a while longer still our food finally came out. Both of our eggs were cold, the bacon was cold and the regular French toast was cold. We can only think that our food sat there until she came back and told them to do biscuits and gravy instead of the cinnamon roll French toast and nothing was remade. No one came back and asked how it was, just said they were dropping the checks off because she had to get them out. When we went to pay no one asked how everything was. I wanted to like it there because everything sounds and looks good but I am not impressed at all. I have read reviews of people enjoying it but how can it be all three times that we were there things were not right.
