In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. Our menu offers comfort food classics, and our entire menu is offered all day long. Whether you are craving pancakes at 8 pm or pot roast at 8 am – we’ve got something for everyone. Seems like I’m making a trend of visiting everyone I can find! This one was nice The service was a little bit slow but the food was amazing and the service was great. I would definitely recommend coming here. My only complaint is parking was a little bit difficult and there was a little bit of trash around in the parking lot near the businesses. No trash that I could see around the restaurant itself though and definitely would come here again! Again though the service was a bit slow at the table it was very pleasant and very good. And everybody is very nice and attentive when we could get their attention!

Came in today for brunch and ordered the chicken fried steak. It took a long time to get our food. It tasted fine at first until I started to eat my hash browns. That’s when I found a small piece of plastic in my food. Seems to be a piece of the nutritional label on a food package. Today was my first time going to Black Bear Diner in many years but this may be the last.

Loved the food. We had to wait for 20 min on a busy Sunday morning. Chicken Avocado Club sandwich was really nice. The season special Pumpkin sauce waffles with side of cream and maple syrup was refreshingly good.

I went to have breakfast with my family, and since the minute I walked in we instantly felt welcomed with a warm smile by Sandra. We all said, “What an amazing person, putting smiles on everyone’s faces”, not knowing she would be our server. That made our service 100 times better.
