We’re not locals so this was our first time (and most likely last time) at this diner. It was adorable!!! I wish we had one on the East Coast. The decor was absolutely on par with the theme and the newspapers as menus was adorable. I wish they had more of a gift shop with branded merchandise instead of just bear themed items. But I would definitely visit again! My boyfriend said it was the best BLT he’s ever had. Good breakfast too

Yesterday will be the last time we go out there unless were desperate.
The turn over rate with cooks makes it very hard to be consistent and the food quality or preparation has gone down hill. This was our to go spot for many years but recently the quality of taste and food just isnt there. I always give a 3rd chance and this time it didnt make the Cut. My food was warm not hot. I saw it in the window/warmer for 5 mins while waited for the other food to be ready.
One waitress touched our silverware so heavily we ask for new silverware.
Further more…. why should we have to wait in line to pay. This is counter service its Table Service.
If workers are trying to figure out a refund or how to use the computer and their are 4 people waiting to pay… one of you needs to open that second register and get us out of there. Take Care.

Took our roommates out got dinner. We were warmly greeted seated and Kaitlynn our server appeared right away and back with our drinks! We ordered the turkey dinner and split it. When food delivered a little side of gravy appeared as well. My only input even if I wasn’t sharing more potatoes!
Omg for dessert the fruit filled bear claw. We asked for our dessert to go no problem. Kaitlynn not only met our service experience but made it enjoyable as she is friendly.

My family and I went in Friday night and everything was great! Our server Kaitlynn was amazing 10/10. The food was perfect definitely recommend the pot pie! Unfortunately there was a down side when I went to use the women’s restroom the handicap stall door is falling off and look like it could come off any day if someone closed it too hard. Other than that we love black bear!

I wanted to share an experience I had today while placing an order to go in the restaraunt with a friend of mine.
Angela ( general manager) greeted us with a warm smile. It was Sunday around lunch time she kept the place flowing so nobody had to wait for a table …well done. Im sure it was a team effort, it was great. My friend was having trouble pulling up an e-club free breakfast barcode on her phone. Angela took the time to help her and still greet custmers. She spent a good10 min helping her until it was fixed. I dont think many restaraunts would care as much to get a customer a free breakfast. Thank you Angela we appreciate you and your team.

The Black Bear Diner in Medford remains a definitive landmark for those seeking authentic American comfort food, and my recent visit confirmed that its reputation for “bear-sized” portions is entirely well-founded. The iconic, cabin-themed interior—complete with detailed bear carvings and a welcoming mountain-resort atmosphere—creates a unique sense of place that justifies the local hype. I found the “Bear’s Choice” to be an exceptional value, as the quality of the sweet cream pancakes and thick-cut protein options is maintained even at such high volume.
The service was remarkably attentive despite the busy weekend rush, with a staff that operates with the efficiency and hospitality necessary to sustain a community hub. Whether you are stopping in for a restorative breakfast or a hearty dinner of chicken fried steak, this establishment provides a level of consistency that few other diners can match.

Staying at the Best Western next door, I walked across the parking lot for dinner. I was greeted by their friendly staff and seated right away. I ordered the meatloaf dinner off of the little less menu and it was the perfect meal for me not being a big eater, and it was delicious!

A Delightful Brunch at Black Bear Diner, Medford

Our group of seven ventured to Black Bear Diner in Medford for a Sunday Brunch, and it was an experience that left us all smiling. Despite the challenge of finding parking and a brief wait for our food, the atmosphere was buzzing with energy and camaraderie. The wait only heightened our anticipation, and the diner did not disappoint.

The menu offered a variety of hearty and homestyle options, and each dish was prepared with care and served piping hot. I opted for the Build Your Own Breakfast, which allowed me to indulge in the stuffed blackberry french toast, paired with savory sausage links, and perfectly cooked two over easy eggs. The flavors were rich and satisfying, truly capturing the essence of a home-cooked meal. The portions were generous, ensuring that we all left with full bellies and content hearts.

What stood out was the diner’s ability to create a fun and welcoming environment. Our server, Terry, was a gem—attentive, friendly, and efficient, adding to the overall positive vibe of the place. It’s clear that Black Bear Diner isn’t just about the food; it’s about the experience.

In conclusion, if you’re looking for a place that combines delicious food with a warm atmosphere, Black Bear Diner in Medford is the spot. It’s a place where minor inconveniences like parking and wait times are small prices to pay for the quality time and great food you’ll enjoy. Highly recommended!

I had a fantastic experience at Black Bear Diner thanks to our amazing server, Kaitlyn! From the moment we sat down, she greeted us with a big smile and made us feel right at home. She was incredibly attentive without being overbearing, checked on us often, and made great recommendations from the menu. Our food came out quickly, and everything was exactly as we ordered. Kaitlyn’s friendly personality and top-notch service really made our meal extra enjoyable. We’ll definitely be back — and we’ll be asking for Kaitlyn next time!
