In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. Our menu offers comfort food classics, and our entire menu is offered all day long. Whether you are craving pancakes at 8 pm or pot roast at 8 am – we’ve got something for everyone. APR 2025: Delicious food, friendly staff and amazing devour! They serve breakfast all day, the country fried steak, breakfast meats, and hamburgers were so yummy. The staff was very patient and friendly even for a large group like us. The meals were reasonably priced and they had a lot of options for the kids meals. As for the decor, there were lots of black bears in paintings, wood carving, and etc., that the kids loved walking around and looking at. Definitely recommend this if you’re looking for a family dinner or brinner!

Black Bear Diner has great food in a cozy and fun environment! The bear / country theme is adorable.
My daughters really wanted to dine outside, so Daniela was kind enough to open the outside area for us, even though it had previously been closed for rain! Her kindness made their night! The patio area was super relaxing and quiet.
The kids meals are about $5-$6 and come with the choice of a sundae or strawberry cup. Kids’ drinks must be purchased separately, which was a little bit of a downer, but it helped keep meal prices lower.
The menu has comfort food favorites and all-day breakfast!
We noticed that kids eat free on Tuesdays, so we may have to start coming more often and hitting up the Tuesday deal!

THIS PLACE WAS AMAZING IN EVERY WAY. THANK YOU Florenzia for helping us. My taco salad was big enough for 3 meals and was perfectly dressed with all the fresh toppings. The restaurant was so clean and everyone was very kind. I would eat there again tomorrow if I didn’t have such great leftovers, LOL

Christmas Day special prime rib meal I ordered on Uber Eats. Missing the green beans and no au jus or horse radish. Prime rib was delivered well done instead of medium rare. Gross and unacceptable!! And I paid $43!! Merry Christmas?? I don’t think so..never again! Don’t get me started on what they consider a salad..Google won’t let me post a pic of the “salad” for some reason

Absolutely loved my experience here! The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal. A special shoutout to our waiter, Randy! he was incredibly kind, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. You can really tell he cares about the guests. Highly recommend this place.

Absolutely awful experience. We did get seated pretty quickly, but weren’t told until we went to order that they were apparently out of a lot of their menu options. No pot roast, no onion strings, no baked potatoes, etc. Okay, disappointing and weird to have happen on the middle of the week, but we were going to deal with it. We order our food, and it comes out in a reasonable amount of time… Except it’s almost all lukewarm at best. At one point the manager (maybe? he didn’t introduce himself.) came to speak to us, except he made very vague comments, and then left without resolving our questions/complaints. By the end of the meal we were all just pretty fed up with the complete lack of care from the staff here, and when we realized that we were overcharged for items (per the menu, and charged for a kid’s meal when they have flyers up saying kids eat free on Tuesdays) we weren’t about to try hunting down the manager to try and fix it. Extremely overpriced Sysco food served cold? No thank you. Not about to come back to this location any time soon.

Love the atmosphere! The food wasn’t anything to write home about but it was definitely a fun little place to get breakfast! Not that it was bad just about average! The pancakes are a little sweet but overall not too bad, go for the atmosphere!
Update: went to thanksgiving and it was an awesome meal, if you are looking for a thanksgiving dinner where you don’t have to cook this place has you covered! We went at 3 and didn’t have to wait at all for a party of 4. Lot of food for 26.99! You will be full!
