In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. Our menu offers comfort food classics, and our entire menu is offered all day long. Whether you are craving pancakes at 8 pm or pot roast at 8 am – we’ve got something for everyone. We walked in it’s dead no one’s seems to be working with a sense of urgency. We wait 30 minutes to receive a cold breakfast. Over cooked steak and eggs and dry dry dry……………..hashbrowns! they were so dry the texture was that of a dehydrated potato that you get in a carton to make instant hash browns overall the service and food was terrible we won’t be back to a black bear dinner anytime soon in the near future. Overprice, overcooked, zero quality control

I had a great experience getting a tasty and nutritious meal with my Blackened Pesto Salmon meal & the delicious huckleberry lemonade (I chose to dilute the mix they gave me). Darius’ service was excellent as he helped me make sure I knew my options and that the kitchen knew exactly what I wanted including the preparation of the salmon to my liking. I’ll definitely be back with an appetite for their all-day breakfast items, especially their chicken & waffles. I also want to try other items on the menu. I also feel like I stepped into a portal and was dining in Montana near Glacier National Park.

I have to be fair and fair is fair. The reason why only outside and lobby pictures is because…we went at 11:45 am and there was 11 people waiting for two I say 2 workers in the whole entire place. I’m sure kitchen staff was there but two people working. Greeting, serving, checking out and taking orders on the phone. Very very poor operation on a Wednesday lunch time. We walked back out after waiting 9 minutes of nothing but just observing the operations. I can understand the waitress attitude towards the 3 customers sitting down. Sorry I can’t give food review on this one but as far as the whole operation place gets a minus C.

We visited this place on a Sunday afternoon. It was not busy at all. However, our waiter took about 15-20 minutes to finally come and take our order. He seemed distracted and favoring another table he was serving. The restaurant was pretty dirty and felt very dingy. There was trash under the tables and all over the floors. I know they can do better because I’ve been to other locations that are kept clean and the staff is much nicer.
