I had dinner here tonight. Country fried steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, salad.
When the salad arrived less than two minutes after I placed my order, I already knew it was pre-prepared and sitting in the fridge. I was correct, the iceberg lettuce was rancid, not fresh, some brown edges. It tasted horrible.
Then 2 minutes later dinner arrived. Green beans were WAY overcooked and mushy, like they have been sitting in a pot since the night before. Disgusting. Ther aren’t even a decent shade of green..more like greyish
The chicken fried steak, was a poor excuse for a pre-made patty.. dry, no texture. In fact, the skin felt like it was just recently dipped back into the oil for the second time to heat it up.
At one time ( many many years ago), the Black Bear Diner has homemade food, and it tasted great.
Not any more. They cut so many corners, it shows. I will never come back, and will advise the people I know as well.

Their fresh orange juice mimosas are gorgeous.

Last weekend, my husband and I went there for breakfast. The potato in my breakfast burrito looked raw and my hashbrown, ordered well done, was completely soft on the bottom.
My husband’s trip tip sandwich wasn’t toasted and seemed to have less meat than it used to.
Overall, a disappointing experience. We will be finding another breakfast house moving forward.
always clean, and so were the bathrooms. Pictures are from different different visits. So far we have been very pleased with every dish we’ve ordered and customer service is always outstanding. 5 layers chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream was really good, not super sweet even though it looks like it. We all enjoyed it. A must try.
