In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. What is the point of not allowing substitutes on all you can eat fish Friday? Like seriously, please tell me the point. I don’t like coleslaw and I wanted more hush puppies. Do you have any idea how many more plates I plan to order to get extra hushpuppies? Jk. The all you can eat is just the fish. Any idea how many pieces of extra fish I’m going to order to have because I wanted extra hush puppies? My husband ordered prime rib. When you ask for horseradish, people want it before the prime rib is gone. I probably won’t eat here again, and you lost a desert purchase because I ate too much fish. Just because you won’t substitute coleslaw for more hushpuppies.

We sat down waited ten minutes for our server (Kayla)to say anything the host had to go get her! She waited on the table that came in after we did. I ordered orange juice and when she brought it to the table is liked water! The host brought another glass it was the same. The host went to the back and we were sitting right by the server ally you could hear one of them say week there’s nothing we can do that’s just the juice we have. Then she said I don’t know what they want us to do about it. So I got up and let the servers know we’re could hear everything they were saying. And we got up and left. We shears Terry and give this place a chance because we love the food but the service is beyond horrible!!!! Maybe if they would have taken the extra step to see if maybe the oj was running out hence the water substance. But this place needs serious help in the service dept I could see if they were busy but there was 5 tables in the whole restaurant., would love to be able to come in and eat but the service blows it for us every time!!!!

Stopped in because we were hungry. See what we ordered in pictures below. The food was large portion sized but as you see the hash browns were to crispy and pancakes were doughy inside. We were given a table right away but our server was never really no where to be seen. We had to get other people attend to us.

Almost went to iHop since I was near one, drove extra to checkout Black Bear instead.
You don’t need to take my word for it, compare IHOP menu to Black Bear’s online, it’s black and white. Double the calories per meal for same price.
I verified this myself with a Denver omelette with hash browns and pancake. Outstanding. Very satisfying meal.
May have eaten more than half the food before remembering a picture.

This Restaurant is one of the Best in Fountain, Colorado. I’ve lived here for 7+ years, and I don’t think there’s any other diner around here that’s better than this establishment.
First, Our waitress served us our drinks in a timely manner, and it took less than two minutes to get our orders.
Then, Our Food Came fresh and Well Done. It took about 20-25 minutes for my burger to get here, but that’s typical as I been here for the past few years.
Overall, I’d say this Black Bear Diner establishment exceeded my expectations. Just don’t come here during the day or afternoon as sometimes parking can be full pretty fast. Other than that, I would recommend this restaurant to the first person I see.

Stopped in for the 1st time for some breakfast! It was very good. We ordered the cinnamon French toast plate & the bears choice meal. Eggs bacon & pancakes. The waiter was friendly & very knowledgeable about the meals. The only thing I thought was it was cold and I was sitting right under the air conditioner& this was the day of the snow storm. Otherwise it was very good and a $40 meal. The portion of food is worth it! We’ll come back!

I’m 20 weeks pregnant and very sensitive to food so when I say Oh my LORDY their pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage are amazing.. believe me, they are! I unfortunately wasn’t able to be there in person, but some family brought home food to go. Still fresh! Made just right! Perfect consistency to the eggs and the bacon was made just how I like it!! First time eating from Black Bear Diner & I can promise it won’t be the last!! Beat IHOP by a mile, Super impressed!!

Wonderful place! The food was absolutely delicious, the atmosphere was so cozy especially with winter coming in! Our server was delightful, he did everything to make sure we had great service despite the full house. The hosts were very nice and communicative. We can’t wait to try their dinner menu!
