In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. Our menu offers comfort food classics, and our entire menu is offered all day long. Whether you are craving pancakes at 8 pm or pot roast at 8 am – we’ve got something for everyone. Great food. Love the bear stuff everywhere. We wanted dessert but our waiter was not as attentive as he could have been. Overall though, great experience and if I’m in the area again, we will stop in!
The kids got dessert for free and they were THRILLED! Prices are very reasonable and portions are large.

It was busy and a bit of a wait. Thankful they were open on Thanksgiving because we came from out of town to see family. Was able to meet and eat here. All the people working did their best on this busy day! Food was great! They had a special menu. The chicken noodle soup and cornbread was amazing.

There were two of us for lunch, we ordered the fish and chips and taco salad. The fish you could tell came from a box/bag not very flavorful or seasoned. The taco salad with chicken (although the shell was huge) was mostly just that,salad. The server wasn’t very attentive, had to get up and ask for some malt vinegar for the fish, had to ask for a refill on the soda. Don’t think we will be back.

This is a nice place to get homemade style meal. My hubby got the meatloaf and I got the pot roast. Both were delicious and had hearty portions. Its a cute family restaurant and has a small gift shop, all playing on the black bear theme. I’ve been to a couple of black bear restaurants and they have been consistently good.

Excellent family / country style restaurant located in the charming small town of Cottonwood, AZ – we were greeted politely, seated promptly, and attended by an enthusiastic server by the name of Samuel.
Samuel was very pleasant, attentive, and energetic – thank you Samuel!
We ordered the Ruben Sandwich and the large sized Chicken Fried Steak with country gravy – our food was delicious – highly recommend these options.
Our overall experience was terrific – great place to enjoy a meal after the Verde Canyon Railway trip.

Just wanted to shout out to the kitchen crew and all the staff from today! They were super busy when we walked in, but everyone kept a smile on their faces and were very kind to the customers. They also encouraged each other while busily working to accommodate everyone. The kitchen crew never faltered, they just kept right at it, one order after another, not skimping on quality. Every order appeared delicious and cooked with care. Our food was fantastic. Compliments to a great team who works hard!
