In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Unlimited fish fry on Friday night was phenomenal. Every piece of fish they brought out was freshly fried. The tartar sauce was amazing. Add a little lemon to it and it was even better. They have a different take on Cole slaw than most places. It was a fresh cabbage chop with a vinaigrette sauce that brought a light taste that complimented the fish well. The hush puppies were the only thing I wasn’t in love with, but I wasn’t there for the pups, and the fries made up for them.
Service was really amazing too. I felt welcome and we had some privacy in our booth section.

Stopped in for Brunch, the menu was large And saved in newspaper style. The interior was homey-rustic, but definitely chain decorations. It was packed however, so it seems to be very popular.
We ordered the “Original Scarmbowl” and Veggie Omelette. Both were good. Very generous potions.
Pros: Originality with food and menu. Very generous portions for a reasonable price.pleasant wait staff. Also the best biscuit I’ve ever had in my life.
Cons
Cons: Definitely a chain interior. Food, while good, was very neutral for flavor. Just a place to eat, normally I feel a vibe, here there was none.
I realize in order to capture the most foot traffic, restaurant chains will make flavor neutral to not turn away people of differng tastes for spice, flavor, etc.
That being said, if you’re looking for a good place to eat, it serves the trick. We gave it a 6/10. It did the trick, but not high on our list.

Guillermo was superb. Helped me decide between cinnamon roll and bread pudding french toast. I highly recommend his choice of the bread pudding. The praline sauce was so perfect, I did not dilute it with syrup. The bananas were perfectly cut and nice and ripe. The mild sausage patties had lots of fennel in it which was my favorite part. So glad I made the decision to stop in and eat.

Friendly and accommodating staff. Service is pretty consistent…food hot,fresh. Cold fruit and hot coffee. Booths are decent sized, food portions are definitely “to-go” worthy.

We were served by Agustín and he was wonderful! Super nice, attentive, and always on top of it. He helped us with any questions we had and made sure we had enough coffee the entire time. The food was great and the prices were amazing. Definitely coming back!

I usually enjoy coming to your restaurant, but my recent order was very disappointing. I ordered breakfast with a small orange juice, and:
• The orange juice portion was extremely small for the $6 price. I spent 40$ for the entire meal plus delivery.
• The potatoes were burned.
• The meat was undercooked.
• The scrambled eggs were hard.
Unfortunately, this meal did not meet the quality I’ve come to expect from your restaurant. I hope you’ll address this to ensure future orders are up to standard. I am very disappointed the whole meal is in the trash .

The food was phenomenal. Portion sizes are massive. Service was super polite and fast. Very attentive. We had the pancakes, omelet, HUGE biscuits, and country fried steak. Sooooo good. Brie was an absolute gem. Very impressed. We are from Alabama, but if we are ever this way again, we will be back!!!!
