In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. Black Bear Diner is awesome! The staff is always friendly and hospitable, even when the place is packed. The location is clean and welcoming, and the food is always delicious. My go-to order is the French Toast, with scrambled eggs, bacon, and breakfast potatoes. The French Toast is always perfectly cooked, the eggs are buttery and fluffy, and the bacon is crispy. The breakfast potatoes are also cooked perfectly, and they’re never too greasy. I highly recommend Black Bear Diner to anyone looking for a great breakfast.

I’ve been to many BBD’s. Service was rushed, not hospitable, or courteous. Food was “okay” at best. Very little meat on turkey club. Mostly bread. Onion rings over cooked. Salad was room temperature. I expected more based on Utah experiences.

I haven’t been to the Black Bear Diner in a while. It was awesome! The food was really good. Our server Savannah was excellent and met all of needs. The place was packed. Below is some of my wife’s breakfast of waffle and hash browns with cheese and bacon. I will definitely come back.

Way, way overpriced! You can get the same quality breakfast at Denny’s or IHOP and pay half the price. I had the biscuits and gravy and biscuits were huge but the gravy was not proportioned for the size of the biscuits and gravy was kind of cold. The waitress was a very nice lady and very good although she did forget to bring the fruit with my wife’s breakfast and had to be reminded. The coffee was OK but again the prices are way too high. If the food quality match the price it wouldn’t of been bad but it does not. I will never eat there again.

Came in with low expectations but was pleasantly surprised! Pancakes are so good. Normally would never eat them without syrup but these stand alone like champs and I will definitely judge a breakfast place for it’s pancakes. ♀️ great diner food! Grits weren’t too watery and the portions were fantastic per the price. Service was good although I went during a not super busy time so… My husband ordered the French toast hot sausage sandwich and it was the best thing I’ve had in a long time. Full of flavor! Plan on coming back!

I enjoyed the food. Very good…seemed that almost everything was made fresh, however the lemonade seemed to be powered not fresh, although that is an assumption. The waitress was nice and attentive. Atmosphere was very nice as well but, like other restaurants I have a problem with bathroom seats that feel like your arm is getting decapitated. Enough said about that, otherwise it was a very nice experience.

I got a promotion for a free breakfast. I’d ordered it once before and everything went through just fine. I’ve also gotten two other promotions. All three have been delivery as I don’t drive. It’s probably my new favorite restaurant. Last night I went to order the breakfast for delivery and could not get it to go through. So I called the restaurant and they said I had to come in. I’ve already had delivery three times so I know that’s not true. Plus the promotion has a place to check delivery and enter your address why would that be there if delivery was not a possibility? I’m going to find the promotion and see if it specifically says I must pick up.
