In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Wow…Wonderful experience eating here. Loved our helper Robin. She is Fantastic!!! Good food, shoutout to the chefs!! I have always just had breakfast. But this time I tried the Sourdough Parmesan Cheese Burger. Out of this world GOOD.

This is. Great place with a great history going way back. The menu has the full story printed on it. The food has been good every time. The pricing is great for the portions. Breakfast lunch and dinner are all good. Friendly staff and a Really cool mountain cabin feel to it with lots of black bear stuff. I dont know of any restaurants around here do a better breakfast for a better price. IHOP, Dennys and Village in cant hold a candle to this place.

Great experience, huge portions even on the smaller plates section, and delightful service and conversation with our server, robin. We will be in this area for a couple more days and hope to stop by for one more breakfast to see robin again. My two teenage daughters loved her charm and sweet conversation.

We had Robin as our server and she was fabulous! We had a group of 18 and she was so speedy getting our orders and bringing our food out. She was kind and chatted with our kids. Gave us food suggestions. All around she was amazing! And the good was great as well. 🙂

I was really disappointed that we waited over 10 minutes to ASK for ranch. There was only one other table eating, and no waiter was around during that time. We had to walk around to ask to ask for ranch. The food its normal, good portions, but it got cold because the waiters didn’t bring it out promptly (we asked them to warm it up).

By the way, they were in the bar section gossiping or whatever, but never paid attention to us. The only time they were fast was to bring the check and to pay the cashier.

For the price, this is a fantastic breakfast with a hefty serving! The breakfast sandwich is especially great. I do wish the hash browns were a bit more crispy and the red potatoes were a bit warmer. Overall, great food and service—for a very reasonable price.

Seated us right away, the staff was very friendly. The food was fresh and the flavors and food are always cooked the same so we dont have to worry the next time we come in itll taste different or be different. Brittany was our serve the one with the angel numbers “555” on her wrist. She had the best energy and was consistent with us. We absolutely loved her and hope to get her again as a server.

Husband and I came here for date night and we loved it! The food was AMAZING!!!! I got the Friday Fish Fry and everything was so tasty! Our sever Makiah was absolutely amazing! She was attentive, polite, and quick! 10/10 would absolutely reccomend!

Got the tri tip dip, you would think that a Tri-Tip dip sandwich would come with Auju. Nope, I ordered take out and they didn’t give me any Auju. Bread was untoasted. Wasn’t on a roll it was on regular white bread. I feel like they took someone else’s left over food and gave it to me, that’s the feeling I got from this experience. Fries were cold and soggy. Waste of $33. My Woman was so mad she didn’t even eat it. I know it’s Christmas, and I feel horrible for people that have to work on Christmas. But that still no excuse to give such poorly made food. I’m happy to get my money back if you want to make it up to me?
It’s a disgrace that this place calls itself a Diner. You want REAL American diner food? Go to one man band. I’d like my money back please?
