In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. Normally, going to Black Bear is a good experience. However my most recent time there was frustrating. Honestly the hostess and our server were nice, which is why I felt bad having to get up to leave after waiting almost an hour for our food. It was just a BLT and pancakes and eggs, it should have taken 30 minutes even on a busy day, but when I saw their order screen at the counter all red I knew it was going to be awhile. It might have just been bad luck, but this location should try to be better about over-seating if their cooks can’t handle the flow of orders. I would rather wait 30 minutes in the lobby and get my good 30 minutes later than sit for an hour waiting for food.

BB is one of those places I think after I go there, that I should go there more often. But BB is a little quiet….and other places get more attention and I usually go to other places. Tonight was one of those nights of “I should come here more often”. The breakfast’s are so good, and the meatloaf is the best around. Be sure to ask to be seated in Carynne or Amber’s section – they are the best servers there!!

Black Bear Diner is so delicious every time. They always take care of us whenever we go, but we went today & our waiter (Styles) was top notch. He always made sure we were good & taken care of, but wasn’t super overbearing. I love the staff here!

Although this was talked about as one of the good places to go in the suburbs of Salt Lake City, a great place for family dining, etc. etc. it was not. The burgers were OK nothing fantastic nothing special and the fries were made in other words when I go there again, for that kind of meal, no. What I will say is that the lemonade was very good, and I have never had huckleberry lemonade anywhere else because they add the syrup to the lemonade that was pretty sweet and I mean sweet as in great night sweet as in taste bud sweet. The servers were terrific.

Breakfast food is the easiest to make and nothing was cooked well. The potatoes were barely cooked and soggy. The toast didn’t even seem toasted, and the omelet was dry with hardly any cheese. The food quality is not worth it.
