Wonderful local diner with delicious breakfasts and outdoor seating if you want it. Portions are very big and service is attentive and friendly. I had a basic breakfast and it tasted great. They had yummy rye bread and look at the cool way they fold it in my pic. It’s a nice touch that shows they aren’t just throwing hash, they really care about their food and customers. I’ll definitely be back.

This was a very nice cafe. The coffee was flowing and the chicken fried steak breakfast was exceptional. I usually can’t finish all my meals but easily put this one away. Do yourself a favor and stop here for delicious food.

Service was casual/friendly, varied menu options. We chose to share a cinnamon bun which was huge, soft on the outside but hard in the centre. Coffee was ok but nothing special

Stopped in for breakfast. Had the protein omelette. Meal was delicious. Worth stopping by. Come for breakfast or early lunch, they close at 2pm.
Came back Sunday morning for breakfast and coffee. Another delicious meal. More than I could finish.

We were delighted to stumble across this cafe. We enjoyed seeing the quilts and pictures on the wall. The serving sizes are very generous. The menu says Colossal Salad, and it doesn’t lie! Good was delicious, server was friendly. I would go back again if I am in the area.

If you’re passing through Thermopolis, you absolutely have to stop by Black Bear Cafe. It is a true hidden gem with a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The rustic decor and friendly staff set the perfect tone for a relaxing meal. The service is top-notch—the staff is incredibly attentive and efficient. You get great value for your money here; the food tastes like a home-cooked meal, the portions are generous, and the coffee is always hot and fresh. It’s conveniently located right in the heart of town, making it an easy and essential stop. Highly recommended!

Excellent breakfast! Service was super friendly. On our way from Dubois to South Dakota, this was a perfect place to fill up for our trip. I had a breakfast taco & American fries/potatoes & my husband had a breakfast burrito. I ordered one pancake & thought it would be a small pancake! My eyes were surprised when the waitress brought it & it was the size of the plate & almost an inch thick, and fluffy! I can never get my pancakes to do that !
Highly recommend this restaurant.

Stopped in to eat here before heading into the state park. We had the absolute best service! All the workers were so friendly and helpful. Even the other customers were great (we had our wild little girl with us). The French toast was great and the smothered pork burrito was even better (loved the pork and the green chili sauce on top). And the chocolate malt was wonderful! Next time will have to try the cinnamon rolls too. Excellent stop!
