I wanted to take my husband out to a nice steak dinner for his birthday, so we went to Black Angus. We arrived at 5:15pm and we were seating immediately in a very comfortable booth. Right away, I could see how dated this restaurant still is. Even though they have definitely tried to spruce it up with new paint and some new decorations, they have alot of staining on the ceiling tiles and rips on the booth seating. At first our server was very friendly and got our drinks quickly but he was disappointing overall. We decided to get the campfire feast for 2 for $69, which we thought was a pretty good deal. We ordered the crab cakes for our appetizer, I ordered a 12 oz new york strip with mushrooms on top and with au gratin potatoes and garden salad as the sides, my husband ordered a 12 oz ribeye(which was a $7 add on charge) with onions on top, au gratin potatoes and Mac & cheese as the sides. Our server informed us that the crab cake appetizer would take a little longer than the other appetizers, we decided to still get them and wait for them. While we waited, the server brought over a small loaf of their molasses bread with butter, the bread was very tasty even though some of the edges were hard. Our crab cakes finally came out about 15-20 minutes later and they were worth the wait, they were so flavorful. We noticed it was taking a while for our entrees to come out, some of the tables around us got their food before us and they arrived after us. Our server came by to let us know that the entrees were taking longer than mormal and asked if we wanted to order a salad or soup to eat while we wait. By the time our food finally arrived to the table, we had been at the restaurant over an hour. The food arrived at the table but I informed the food runner that I never got my garden salad(which I assume was supposed to come out with the appetizer a while ago). They then brought out my salad accompanied with a extremely cold fork that was too cold to use, I ended up just using my other fork. The server did come by and apologize for forgetting to bring out my salad earlier. Our steaks were both delicious and very good quality. My husband let me know that the au gratin potatoes and Mac & cheese tasted the exact same, like they used the same cheese sauce for both of them. The au gratin potatoes were strange because the pieces of the potatoes were so small rather than the typical slices of potatoes but was pretty good. My garden salad was a large salad but a pretty basic salad. My husband got a free cookie dessert with some ice cream on top free for his birthday, the server came out with a candle in the cookie and we sang happy birthday to my husband. Our campfire feast came with a dessert, so we got a creme brulee. The creme brulee was pretty tasty. Overall, the food was delicious but the service was mediocre at best. Our server was not staying on top of our drink refills and it seemed like the delay in our food was due to him forgetting to put in our order. While we were waiting over an hour for our entrees, we did not see our server at all. I noticed a manager saw us waiting but they never once came by to check on us or offer a discount at all. I’m not sure if we would ever come back to dine in at Black angus again. The service was disappointing.

I got a buy one get one deal from Uber eats on delivery. For about 60 dollars (delivery fees included) I got two orders of the 6 oz steak, 4 shrimp, and 2 sides, and sauteed mushrooms. The steaks seemed a little on the small side even for a 6 oz, but you can pay more to upgrade to a better cut. The kids loved everything. The broccoli was well cooked and flavorful, the Mac had a good texture and flavor, and the shrimp were pretty good too. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the mood for a steak.

We ordered the campfire feast which is now $69. My NY Strip was good. So was the Salmon. However, the bread served was hard & literally stale. The herb butter ($2.99) extra was frozen (really?) We’re going to take a break from this restaurant. They obviously do not care. Not worth the $$ we spent. Disappointed.

The food was really delicious and was served reasonably fast given how packed the restaurant was. We had a reservation, so we didn’t have to wait very long to be seated either.
The service was excellent and speedy in spite of the amount of diners. Multiple persons checked on us aside from our server as well. It was really nice and efficient.
There is parking, but like I said, it was a packed house, so we had to circle a few times before we found a spot. I’d recommend showing up a few minutes early because of this.
Definitely recommend.

The food was good.
Some plates are better than other and it all depends on the customer’s preferences.
Plenty of parking.
Bar seating.
Very good service.
Clean place.
NO loud music, you won’t have to yell talk with your friend.
Nice atmosphere.

Came in tonight with my family as a large party of 16. Things started off okay, but about 10–15 minutes after being seated, none of us had water or the complimentary bread (similar to Olive Garden bread). We had to ask for both.
Later on, after appetizers, we asked our server to help take a family photo. While taking the pictures, she kept commenting that the photos “didn’t look good,” trying different angles, and then said, “If it looks bad it’s not my fault, it’s probably just genetics.” I was honestly shocked. That comment was completely unnecessary and rude, not something you ever say to guests.. or just people in general.
As the night went on, several food items were missing or incorrect. Even some appetizers were wrong, but we didn’t say anything at the time. When my grandpa finally mentioned an issue with his food, the server responded with, “How about you tell me what you want me to fix about it,” in an extremely rude tone. That led to my uncle speaking up about his incorrect order as well, and instead of handling it professionally, she began arguing with him.
The attitude throughout the night was uncomfortable and unprofessional. When we were leaving, she asked if there was anything else we needed. My dad responded sarcastically, thanking her for “dealing with us,” and she immediately walked away without another word.
Overall, the service completely ruined what should have been a nice family dinner. I was baffled by how comfortable our server was speaking to guests this way. No one deserves to be treated like that while dining out. I truly hope no one else has to deal with such a bad attitude.
For reference, our server had short black hair and glasses.

Update: Got the Campfire Feast for two (now $5 more expensive) and paid an extra $4 for the Wagon Wheel Sampler appetizer. Unfortunately some of the regular sidekicks are now defined as premium for an extra charge. The Wagon Wheel Sampler is about half the previous size with smaller portions. Update: Prices have increased a few dollars again. Ok, if you have a coupon for one of the special offers. Update: We used today’s coupon code to get a lobster tail with any steak entree. The lobster tail was small as expected, but the sirloin steak was good. The disappointment came when we noticed on the bill that a baked potato with everything on it that used to be counted as a classic side, is now an additional $2.25 charge. The baked potato was overcooked and dry, so I had to use the leftover butter that came with the lobster. So I won’t be getting a baked potato in the future. Update: Our best experience ever at this location, totally due to our amazing server Julia D.! She was very friendly, enthusiastic, super fast, and actually told us that she loves her job. It really showed. She should be promoted to a supervisor to train all of the other servers. We got the email special of steak, lobster, and fried shrimp. All were very good. Update: Got the Lamb special entrees. There was very little meat on each of the 3 pieces, mostly bone and fat. The taste was just ok. We would not order it again. Update: Got the BOGO steak special of two Ribeyes. Both were tender, juicy, and flavorful. Also got a Peach Tea mock tail, it was excellent. Update: Got the BOGO steak special of two Ribeyes. Both were tender, juicy, and flavorful. However, this time there was a lot of fat and white connective tissue in each steak. Hopefully this was just a one time occurrence, and not a cost cutting measure of lower quality meat. Update: Got the BOGO steak special of two 14oz. NY Steaks. One of the steaks was very good and the other had a lot of white connective tissue, similar to the Ribeye steaks last time. This is leading us to believe that lower quality meat is being served as a cost cutting measure. Update: Got the BOGO steak special of two 14oz. NY Steaks. This time both steaks were very good and only one had a bit of excessive fat and white connective tissue. Update: Got the lobster, shrimp, and steak trio specials. Both steaks were cooked perfectly medium rare, tender, and juicy. Kudos to Chef Alex! Update: Got two porterhouse steaks. Both were excellent! Update: Got the lobster, shrimp, steak trio. Everything was very good, but the steaks were excellent! Even better than before. Amazing steaks! Update: Got the steak, shrimp, and lobster trio. It was excellent! Update: Got two 12oz. NY Strip Steaks. They were excellent. Update: Got the 2 for 1 special with two 12oz. NY Strip Steaks. This time the steaks were very fatty with lots of unchewable connective tissue. Update: Got the Trio Steak, Lobster and Shrimp special. Everything was very good, except the rice pilaf side. It had an odd texture, almost slimy. We asked for it to be replaced with broccoli, which was good. Update: Got the Trio (Steak, Lobster and Shrimp) special. Everything was very good. Update: Got two 12oz. NY Steaks. They were very good.

Great food and service. Nice place to sit down but not prohibitively expensive. They have a deal usually weekdays only $50 for 2 people to get entries and sides and an appetizer and dessert. The broccoli side was only two pieces though hah. Otherwise the portions are great and food is very tasty. Really nice atmosphere, nicer sit down place. Recommend.

My husband and I dined in for lunch on a Friday afternoon with their 11 AM to 6 PM happy hour specials. We are longtime Black Angus restaurant customers. We were having our car serviced at Hyundai El Cajon and walked across the street which made it easy. The attitude of the staff was very friendly and the food was delicious! We enjoyed the 16 ounce ribeye and 6 ounce fillet which were cooked perfection! would highly recommend.

We went today for Anniversary Dinner. Seemed very slow. Took several minutes to be seated. They seated us in the bar area. I hate that area always very poor service. Today there was 1 guy working. He came by the table and said he would be back. We were there 10 minutes before that even happened. He came back10 to 15 minutes later to drop off menus. He didn’t even take our drink orders. He came back about 10 minutes later, thanked us for waiting. Took our order. He finally at the end ask what we wanted to drink. Each time he brought something to our table he got the order to the wrong person, there were only 2 of us. There was a girl who brought our food out, again given to the wrong person.we asked for our steaks to be mid well.they seemed almost rare.I asked for no onions in my soup, there were onions.I sent the soup back.
I used points and ordered a dessert and guess what they charged us. I pointed that out and 10 to 15 minutes later it was taken off the bill.
When we were leaving there were probably 6 people waiting to be seated. I heard the staff say it will be 25 minutes until the next server comes in. Such poor service. The restaurant was not crowded.
I don’t know if we will go back.I will say if you are on a time frame don’t go.
So disappointing. This is bot the first time this type of thing has happened.
