Nice time with family, a little 15-20min wait time but overall less than several restaurants in the area (especially when you are hungry). BJs didnt disappoint. Great food and even better service! A little loud but durable.

I love this place! I have never had a bad experience. This was the first time I ordered online for Thanksgiving and all the food was delicious!!!
I ordered a few days ahead. When I got there(the day before Thanksgiving)it was super crowded and they were a little behind schedule but the staff was friendly and efficient. If you’re doing any holiday catering be prepared to wait for little but its well worth it, seriously, The sweet potatoes were amazing! and its all good vibes in the building. Shout out to the whole team! You can see everyone working in the back and they were all hustling. It was a crazy amount of catering orders, they still had walk in customers and Uber eats/doordash orders coming non stop, but they held it down. Never rude service, No arguing or fighting in the back just team work to get all the orders out. Delicious soul food and affordable prices. I ordered the dressing, sweet potatoes, macaroni & cheese and dinner rolls. 10/10.

I really enjoy supporting community restaurants, especially black owned businesses, and this place is one of my favorites. However, I have to be honest…. today, the food wasn’t so good. To be clear, Im not what you would consider a regular….however I am a faithful frequent customer. I ordered the short ribs with mac and cheese , dressing with a side of gravy and cranberry sauce… then added a side of yams. This is always my 1st option when I’m undecided on what to order…..its also a favorite because the short ribs of beef are usually very, very, very good. The mac n chees was chewy as if the pasta was undercooked … the yams were over cooked and the flavor was off. The dressing was not good at all… texture taste flavor… all off. The ribs were not falling off the bone , not tender honesty….they were a little tough, and the taste was disappointing….. I was honestly really put off … This is not a negative review it’s an unfortunate circumstance, in my opinion. This experience is very rare for BJ’s market. it is not common for this restaurant. That’s why I give it three stars… they have set high expectations for themselves…in my opinion rarely ever disappointing. I’m looking forward to the turnaround. I couldn’t throw the food away. It’s still in my fridge. I purchased it on Wednesday. Today is Friday.

My mom purchased a dinner from BJ’s on Stony for a family member who had been ill and she loved the chicken dinner and peach cobbler. More recently my mom had a close friend who wanted a good balanced meal and my mom got her a beef short rib dinner with dessert. I picked it up and dropped it off. I was so impressed with the delicious aroma and great customer service that I plan on going back tomorrow and getting my Sunday dinner. Very impressed.

I’ve been patronizing this business for about 2 years now. I only go on Cheap Chicken Tuesdays – they’re much TOO epensive for the quality of food other than that. I also stay away from anything other than the baked/smothered chicken and the dressing bc other than that, the food is trash, including the veggies. They claim their food is ALL HOMEMADE – NO IT ISN’T AND I BEG TO DIFFER WITH THEM!!! Let me actually see if being homemade, then I will give you credit for that. The last time I stopped in, the guy had the NERVE to tell me that I COULDN’T HAVE THE FRESH CHICKEN and he had thought I was going to be forced to take that that was already there,, which wasn’t fresh. I TOLD HIM I ABSOLUTELY DON’T HAVE TO TAKE THAT FOOD, ESPECIALLY AS A PAYING CUSTOMER. I was able to get the fresh batch of chicken and I made my mind up at that moment that I would be certain to come on here and leave a review bc of my experience. Are these Ppl freaking NUTS!!! You can’t force a paying customer to take whatever YOU WANT THEM TO TAKE!!! I see there are a lot of not-so-good reviews on here. Too bad!

I didnt feel like cooking and didnt want Fast Food. So I went to BJ’s Market.
They have a variety of Soul food items including turkey meatloaf.
I dont eat pork, so I ordered the 2 piece broasted chicken with a choice of 2 sides. They had dressing, mac & cheese, mashed potatoes. Plus broccoli, cabbage, greens and string beans that were not seasoned with pork.
The food was very tasty and not overly salty.
I’m so glad I stopped in. You should check them out.

Tried the mustard fried catfish. While I absolutely love fried fish, I’m not a fan of the mustard fried version. The mustard flavor is not subtle . I imagine it would be like eating regular fried fish with mustard slathered on top. There wasn’t a real unique flavor for the fish. However, it was nice and crispy. The honey mustard dipping sauce was good.

Recently I have been to BJ’s two times for food, and from the moment I walked in the door I was greeted positively, and the food was absolutely delicious. I use to go to BJ’s years ago when it was on Stoney Island with my Mother and Grandmother (RIP LADIES). I just moved back to Chicago 3 weeks ago, and I wanted some GOOD soul food, and a lifetime friend suggested BJ’s, I was like OMG they’re still open. The first time I went it was RIGHT before they were closing, and the food was still fresh and yummy, the second time I went it was a bit earlier, and the food was so good, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Great portion sizes, good prices, and the food consistency is right on point.

Thanks guys, I love the food, and thank you for treating me with some awesome customer service. 5 stars across the board, see you soon.
