If anyone ask me to pick a Japanese sushi joint in Chicago northwest suburbs, this will be definitely the one. I had group gatherings quite a few times here and this restaurant was also bookmarked as my friends’ favorite place. This restaurant never uses frozen fish. The owner chef said all sushi grade fishes are prepared from scratch in every day or two. No other Japanese sushi joint in town can beat the freshness and texture of their fish. The dishes are prepared luxurious and garnished perfectly. All chefs and staffs seem to know how to read the customers mood and offer recommendations accordingly. Furthermore, they offer 50% discount on their wine collection on every Tuesday. I’ve been here many times with parties of 2 to 20ish. And they have never failed me. Highly recommend!!

We visited this Japanese restaurant on December 31st, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience! The atmosphere was festive and cozy, making the evening feel really special. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive, which made us feel very welcome. The food was incredible—every dish was flavorful and beautifully presented. I especially have to mention the sushi—it was absolutely delicious and one of the best I’ve ever had. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for amazing Japanese cuisine and a fantastic dining experience!

Bistro Savvy Sushi is one of those places that just gets it right. The miso soup is comforting and flavorful, the Alaska rolls are consistently fresh and perfectly balanced, and the edamame is simple but done exactly the way it should be.
What really sets this spot apart, though, is the upscale milieu. It has a refined, modern vibe that makes it great for both a relaxed dinner and a more polished night out. The atmosphere feels elevated without being pretentious, which I really appreciate.
A great sushi spot all around — I keep coming back and always leave happy.

Always amazing- food is THE BEST and service, FRIENDLY….they care. Special tempura tuna wrap, so flavorful. Love tiger roll. If you like spicy- shrimp diablo appetizer, chefs kiss always comparing any place I go to Bistro Wasabi and nothing beats it.

Love it! Apparently this place has been around for decades and it looks so new and clean. Super cute decor for Valentines too. The food was great and you could see the food being made. Definitely would come back!

Love this restaurant! My favorite spot for the freshest sushi. Lots of menu options to choose from. Great drinks and service by the bartender, Breene. If you can’t decide on what to order, she offers top notch suggestions on what to try. Also, $8 martini specials on Wednesdays. Go for the tuna poke (see picture), awesome taste and presentation!

I’ve been a loyal customer since they opened in the early 2000s because I live in the neighborhood, so this is really disappointing to write. Over the years I’ve watched the quality and service steadily decline, especially since the new owner took over. Many longtime customers in the area agree. Even when I tried to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt, most people felt the quality and service have gone significantly downhill. There also seems to be a high turnover in staff.
Recently, they closed early at 9 PM and started putting chairs on tables while guests were still dining, which made us feel rushed out. There were dirty dishes sitting around the restaurant, and there appeared to be no bussers or runners, only the bartender and one server who also seemed to be managing the front. Service has become consistently slow. My friends and I joke that you need to order two drinks at once because it can take at least 20 minutes to receive one after ordering.
The food quality has also declined. The spicy tuna roll used to be very high quality, but now it costs $15 in the restaurant and is noticeably different. On delivery apps like Uber Eats and DoorDash, it is marked up to around $19. Every time I order delivery, the driver has to wait, even though the order has been listed as in preparation for 20 to 30 minutes before the driver arrives.
When I order spicy calamari to go, it is packed in a styrofoam container that leaks sauce all over the bag. By the time it gets home, there is almost no sauce left in the container because it has spilled everywhere. I have also gotten food poisoning the last two times I ordered delivery. The dishes consistently have an excessive amount of oil. There is always a heavy layer left on the plate after eating, and you can taste and feel it in the food.
During COVID in 2021, a few months after mandates had been lifted, I was nearly physically pushed out for not wearing a mask. The approach felt unnecessarily aggressive and left a lasting negative impression.
It is upsetting to see a neighborhood spot that I supported for so many years decline like this. I truly hope they take feedback seriously and make improvements.

As a sushi lover who’s sampled countless spots across the area, Bistro Wasabi stands above the rest—it’s hands-down my absolute favorite!
The atmosphere feels genuinely warm and welcoming. The service is consistently outstanding: attentive and friendly.
From the fresh prepared sushi to the overall experience, everything hits the mark. I give it a 10/10 and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone who loves great sushi!
