A group of 6 including myself had dinner here on a Wednesday night, and the results were mixed at best.
The decor is very respectable and it seemed like we were in a solid place.
Starting with the Bibb lettuce salad, the flavors were good but it was just too small. For 12 bucks there should be more substance. I ordered 2 bottles of wine, 1 of which was not available. The replacement, which the waiter brought to the table as a recommendation, was not bad, the 2nd wine I ordered was excellent.
As far as the main course, 4 of us ordered the strip steak with fries. The steak was simply a letdown, as it was dry, uninspired, basically unseasoned, and the peppercorn sauce that I ordered consisted of 3 or 4 peppercorns on my plate and no sauce. The waiter, who was smug but friendly, checked up on us at one point, and he asked how the steaks were, but answered his own question with an “excellent, excellent, excellent, excellent” as he counted how many steaks were served. The reality , if he had waited for an answer, was :”not bad” , “disappointing”, “seriously overcooked” and “instantly forgettable”. The fries were served more or less room temperature. That is not the waiter’s fault, that is the kitchen’s fault. At $35 per steak, we all felt pretty disappointed. One of us who is vegetarian liked his risotto but it was not enough to be considered a main course, it was what one would expect of an appetizer.
The best part of the meal was the flatbread. I would have made it with a different cheese, but it was flavorful and distinct. The cinnamon ice cream dessert was very good.
Overall I would not recommend this restaurant. We were not greeted when we came in, nor were we acknowledged when we left. We felt that we spent enough money there (along with a generous tip that was better than what the service called for) to warrant some kind of greeting . The bathroom was a bit messy and was not properly stocked. The feeling was that nobody was in charge. Perhaps we caught them on an off night. Unfortunately we will never know.

We had a club meeting here for a lunch. The food was fabulous and the service was great. The owners worked with us to have the best event we could have. Private room. outstanding food and a great time. Thanks you to Bistro Rollin in Pelham.
