We turned up without a booking for a Sunday lunch – 5 of us. We were welcomed very warmly. Atmosphere was excellent. Service was prestine. It was a really hot day: we had constant fresh water carafe refills, that was fantastic. Food was really decent (salmon, vegetarian couscous and nem, beef tartare) and copious (I LOVED the French fries!). The the or cafe gourmand was really really generous. The birthday girl had sparkling candles on her pudding and we all enjoyed a complimentary glass of bubble. The owner went the extra mile to make us all feel special and that worked! Thank you to all the team!

Normally Bistro Regent is a great place to eat, but I made the mistake of going early evening. The waiter looked shocked to see me and was obviously peed off that he had to put his cigarette down to deal with me. Never mind, you can’t go wrong with a steak and chips here I thought. Steak was good, actually cooked the way I asked but I was mightily annoyed to be served a bowl of fries which were left over from lunch and blatently reheated to the point of being burnt. For the sake of a few leftover fries you pretty much ruined the meal for me. My French is poor so complaining is difficult but even so this is not the standard I expect from Bistro Regent.
