Nestled in the heart of Oregon wine country, Bistro Maison is McMinnville’s beloved French dining destination — a charming, authentic bistro where timeless Parisian flavors meet the bounty of the Pacific Northwest. For over 24 years, we’ve welcomed guests to celebrate life’s milestones in a setting that feels both elegant and inviting, filled with the warmth of French hospitality.
Cozy restaurant in an old house with garden seating serving ample helpings of classic French fare.

We tried this lovely French bistro today and had such a pleasant experience! We’re new in town and were on the hunt for a good charcuterie board and this place did not disappoint. The board was beautifully put together and absolutely delicious.

We tried Bistro Maison for the first time Christmas Eve. They offered a prix fixe menu at $90/person plus a mandatory 22% gratuity, regardless of party size. The service was terrible. Gratuity should be at the diner’s discretion and commensurate with the service provided. We were not provided with 22% quality service. In fact, we felt like afterthoughts being upstairs. We waited 10 minutes for someone to take our drink order and then another 35 minutes for them to return to take our food order. The main entrees were served two hours after we sat down. The salad, shrimp, and soup were both delicious. The ribeye (with a $16 surcharge) and pork chop were both overcooked. Vegetables were undercooked and inedible. The restaurant itself was festively decorated and had a lovely French theme. Based on all of the previous reviews, we had high expectations. Unfortunately, our experience fell short, particularly considering we spent $300 on dinner.

What a fantastic french meal! We were so fortunate to have the owner there as she recommended a couple of dishes and had extensive knowledge of the local wines. She gave us a recommendation for wine, which completely blew us away.
The food is outstanding, flavor bombs actually. We had cassoulet, which you can’t find many places, duck confit (moist, crispy and delicious) and a salad with goat cheese covered in a tapenade of freshly picked mushrooms. The french fries were crispy and good too.
Definitely a repeat!

Our recent visit to Bistro Maison was disappointing. Service was unusually slow—despite requesting bottled water several times, it was never brought without repeated reminders. The waitstaff seemed inattentive and did not check in on us during the meal.
We were surprised to see a 22% automatic gratuity added for a party of five, which felt excessive given the level of service. Additionally, our salads were served 15 minutes apart, requiring us to follow up to find out when the remaining ones would arrive.
The foie gras, while flavorful, was overpriced considering the small portion size.
We had high expectations, but unfortunately, the overall experience fell short.

The service was top notch, staff were attentive and accommodating. Appetizers of house soup and French onion were delicious. The potato tartine needs to be improved or phased out, a gallette or terrine would be a much better replacement. Salmon was perfect. Dessert platter with creme Brule and creme caramel was absolutely the highlight for my husband.

Bistro Maison is an excellent place to eat for a special occasion. The pricing is a bit high, but the quality is definitely worth it. We went here for our anniversary and both had the pork which was excellent. We started with a truffle tartar with cheese which was so good. Their wine list is extensive, but their wine steward knew how to select the bottle for us. Loved the cab franc we got.

Food was par, nothing that stood out but wasn’t bad at all. First time trying/ having escargot en Croute de Bourgogne and just the idea of it made my stomach turn. That was not the reason I am only rating this place 4 stars, my main course was nothing to rave about neither. I had the white truffle fondue which was only okay. My wife ordered the homemade ravioli filled with rainbow Swiss chard, fine herbs and ricotta which was actually the highlight if the whole experience. The cocktails were made with champagne and they also were only decent. In all honesty I don’t think I would ever go back. Tables were a little crowded and cram packed. I’m sure there are much better options in the cute town of McMinnville!

Fun place for dinner in a cute downtown. The service was great, felt like we were welcomed into their home. Wine, food and service was great. Wales the downtown area after dinner, had a great time.
I had the ribeye, mash potatoes, Martini – all excellent options. We had oysters and cheese truffle spread – excellent!
Dessert was great – not sure what it was but it was great.

This is my second time coming to Bistro Maison, and I fell in love all over again. You enter into a little cozy house, filled with the delicious smells of French cooking. We were originally seated inside, but I asked to be moved outside, which they quickly accommodated. Sitting outside in the garden with the string lights definitely elevated the experience.
I ordered the Tartiflette, and couldn’t have been happier. All the ingredients melded together so well, from the red potato to the melted cheese and bacon – I wish I could have that everyday! We also ordered a salad and a soup, to make things a little healthier 😉 Topped off with an espresso, this was the perfect evening at Bistro Maison.
