4 out of 5 stars on Atmosphere only for the lack of soft music. A curated French Restaurant Pandora station would compliment the experience.
Would absolutely come back for a full meal next time. Cozy interior, attentive service, and a menu that leans classic in the best way.
The guest population seemed a bit mature (50ish and up), and I loved it as there was no loud music or rowdy party crowd; you could enjoy conversation and good food.
We started with fried smelts, escargots, and burrata/tomato salad. If you are to order escargots, order an extra bread basket with it to soak up its sauce! Burrata/tomato was good, but there was nothing special about it. My kids surprisingly loved deep-fried smelts.
For our entrées, we tried their lamb chops, duck breast, scallops, and salmon. Duck was our least favorite, but it was still good.
We tried their crème brûlée, basque cheesecake, and pecan chocolate cake for dessert. They were all very good.
I almost don’t wanna leave good reviews and keep it to ourselves. And to the reviewer who complained that they closed around 830 while the sign said they’d open till 9, maybe you should have considered possibilities like they sold out their items for a day or they were super slow for a night or maybe nobody really want to work that late serving entitled folks like yourself believing you should be welcomed for going into any restaurant 30 min before closing.
The crostini were a beautiful presentation and delicious. The French onion soup was phenomenal. The broth was perfectly seasoned and just a delight to eat.
The Stroganoff was wonderful. I don’t care for noodles or sour cream…. that being said, the egg noodles were delicate and really quite handsome in the dish. The sauce lovely. The beef, Yakov uses Filet……so delicious! So perfect. Thank you, vey nice dish indeed!
I had Duck. When I tell you, if you EVER want to try duck, this is the time to try it. The skin is crispy, so delicious, the sweet potatoes are fluffy but substantial. The spinach was not overdone. That so many places over cook their food, is understated. Not here the spinach was not wilted and lifeless, it was perfection! The cherries, oh my goodness, Devine(!) and my beloved goat cheese….. perfection.
I haven’t even mentioned dessert. I would never get strudel on any given day as it’s usually too dry, but something called to us. Thank God lol. The dough was fantastic. Ever so flaky and once again, the apples are NOT overdone. Bravo! And never have i had a flourless chocolate cake be so light and addictive to eat! Bravo x2!!!
Yakov, it was a pleasure to dine with you. My only regret was that I couldn’t stop and tell you how lovely our whole meal was from beginning to end. You were much too busy to stop from cooking…. but …..
Thank you a thousand thank you’s!
