Unfortunately, the service let the experience down considerably. While our initial drinks arrived promptly, we then had a lengthy wait for our meals. When we finished our first drinks, no one came to check on us. We were only asked about drinks again after our food had arrived. When we did order a second round, those drinks came when we’d almost finished eating, which felt poorly timed.
The main issue was our server seemed distracted, spending considerable time chatting with another table rather than attending to the room. When the bill came, we sat waiting 10-15 minutes to pay because no one returned to process it. I eventually had to flag down a different server just to settle up.
It was a special occasion for us, and I appreciated the thoughtful touch of complimentary macarons at the end. The kitchen is clearly doing excellent work. The quality of the food deserves recognition. But for a restaurant at this level, the front-of-house service needs to match. With more attentive service, this would easily be a five-star experience.
The place is quite nice .. we sat outside since the weather was lovely. We ordered escargot, steaks and champagnes. Service was good so far. The steak was either with frites or salads for this deal. The escargot wasn’t too bad. Very creamy and nice with the bread. The steak was pretty good too. We were still enjoying sitting down after our meal .. They cleaned up our table .. and without asking if we are ready for our bill, the waiter (French accent ) just put the bill on our table and told us if we could pay the bill on that counter. I’ve found it lack of customer service for a place like that and rude. There were many table there still available.. I totally understand if the place was packed or fully booked. They didn’t even offer us if we would like to order a dessert
Wasn’t really a good memorable experience. Hospitality really challenging these days .. a good experience and customer service definitely will make us to come back. Don’t you agree?
Tartare de Boeuff, low flavour, egg yolk absent, sinew included.
Pate de four de volaille, very smooth, matching well with pear chutney.
Escargots persillade, served with the obligatory butter overdose, but sooo good.
Saumon fume froid with brioche.
All small dishes served bread which gave a same same effect.
Crème brûlée & tarts au citron to finish. Delicious.
This time we had oysters, snails, French onion soup, beef cheek, steak and frites, profiteroles, crème brûlée and some cocktails.
All of it was excellent.
Great for family lunch or dinner or date night. A really great place for French food!
Felt very rushed from start to finish. There was no care given from the staff, they were rushing around . They didn’t really engage with customers. $62 steak frites was a Porterhouse cut and was chewy and small portion. The chicken dish was sticky and dry and the taste unpleasant. The staff did not ask how the meal was. They did not check in at all. Our level of service in Melbourne has much to be desired. Having come back from Paris recently and seeing the difference between a Melbourne French bistro and Parisian bistro. Vastly different on all scales.
Small cocktail list and wines by the glass are all Australian wines, no French wines available by the glass.
Overall not a very nice experience to enjoy an over priced meal.
The service was odd. We were greated as we entered by a couple asking if we were attending some function, which we were not and told to wait at host stand, then someone else came up again asking if we were attending a function, I said no then he asked if we were a walk in. No, I’ve booked. So then he said someone else will attend to me. Three people I had to be greeted by before being sat.
The staff at the table were attentive. We had to evacuate briefly due to a fire at a neighbouring restaurant, the staff handled this calmly and professionally, and resumed service well.
We ordered some drinks between meals , and they never showed, they forgot to put it through, so our main was mainly had with the table water we had, that was disappointing.
Overall, a slightly above average experience.
Price isn’t too high as this restaurant isn’t a fine dining place like other French restaurants in Melbourne. This restaurant is just an easy option if you get hungry in crown casino or have no motivation to go out.
The service is good, better than most Aussie pubs and steak restaurants.
You’ll need to book in advance if you want to dine in at the table.
