We had an amazing dinner at Bistro Campagne last night! After watching a movie at the Davis Theater, we walked through the snow to this dimly lit and vibrant restaurant. We opted for the Restaurant Week menu and had onion soup and mussels for the first course; poulet roti and steak & fries for the second, and lastly, chocolate pudding and pain perdu for dessert. Having lived in Paris for a year, I can confidently say that the food was quite solid. The wine selection was great as well. I randomly chose a glass of red wine from the menu, and it was very aromatic and smooth. We enjoyed everything. Our server, Lucy, was superb. We will definitely come back!

Everything, EVERYTHING we ordered, was phenomenal!

From the cheeses to dessert. We tried each other dishes and were delighted with flavors and perfect seasoning. It’s hard to cook the birds where they are moist yet the duck and chicken dishes were top notch!

Our waitress was a lovely lady in a pretty flowery dress. French country vibes. Cute ceiling lamps.

Can’t wait to come back when it gets warm and get a table on the patio.

PS: get a bottle of red wine and tartar appetizer. You will not regret it.

As part of a special occasion, we decided to try Bistro Campagne for dinner. We started with the Steak Tartare and French Onion Soup, both of which were pretty good. I ordered the Truite Amandine with the Gratin de Macaroni and Pleurotes, and everything I had tasted good. Unfortunately, others in my group were less impressed with their meals. On top of that, the service fell short of expectations for a restaurant at this level, as our server was not very attentive. Overall, it was a mixed experience. It was not negative, but it was not as memorable as we had hoped.

Went here for my boyfriend’s birthday on Friday and it was perfect. The atmosphere was cozy and romantic. Our server was also amazing. Attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. The food was incredible. We ordered the French onion soup, baguette, Amish chicken, and cassoulet- every dish was perfect. We declined dessert after over ordering but our server insisted on at least sending ice cream with a candle on the house. Very sweet. When the check arrived, I was pleasantly surprised. It was fairly expensive but less than I was expecting and I didn’t feel fleeced. Great value for the experience. We can’t wait to come back!

A charming French spot with a cozy outdoor patio that feels like a lovely escape. While the food was generally satisfying, there were some inconsistencies in execution.

Highlights from our visits include the steak tartare, chicken liver pâté, and the pleurotes mushroom side – a flavorful showstopper despite being just a side! The escargot was solid and on par with other spots we’ve tried. On the other hand, the poached scallop felt muddled with too many competing flavors, and the steak frites had well flavored/textured steak but fries that were soft and soggy.

Overall, it’s a pleasant spot for atmosphere and a leisurely meal, though the vibe outshines the food quality from our visits.

Dinner with reservation before a movie at Davis Theater. Had the French onion soup, Poulet Rotí Amish 1/2 Chicken without a lot of bones and flavorful mushroom cream sauce, would have liked more sauce with the large chicken breast to keep it moist. Couple glasses of wine and finished with the Pain Perdu bread pudding.

Excellent attentive service! Multiple seating areas in & outside, front gated patio garden area will be lovely when it is warmer. Enjoyable dinner.

Ordered the chickpea fries and mussels to start, lamb and gnocchi for our entries, and the bread pudding for dessert. The chickpea fries are a skip – lacked any flavor. The garlic sauce on the mussels was so garlicy and good. The gnocchi is the all-star – loved all the mushrooms and creaminess of the sauce. The lamb was done really well. The bread pudding was an awesome surprise – it’s not overly sweet and had good amount of spices. Service was mediocre. Waitress is really nice but was a bit distracted since she forgot to put in part of our order. The restaurant itself is cute and intimate. Would recommend to a friend for a nice date night out.

We had dinner here and absolutely loved it. The space itself is very cozy and has a rustic vibe. I liked how the space is laid out as it’s a series of different rooms rather than one large open space. There is a really cute patio area too, but it was closed due to weather. The service was very friendly. Our server was awesome, knowledgeable about the menu, and attentive. We started with cocktails then got a bottle of wine, which we loved. The wine selection has a little bit of everything. The food was fantastic. We each started with the french onion soup, which was perfect. We split a house salad, the steak frites, and the whitefish dish. All of it was so delicious, well flavored, and perfectly cooked. I’d definitely recommend this place and we look forward to returning.

My wife and I got married at Bistro Campagne and it was such a magical, delicious time. We held the ceremony and reception all at the restaurant on a Saturday morning for their brunch menu. Claire, the coordinator, was so helpful, always easy to talk to and responded quickly whenever we had questions, and our server Jane was so nice and attentive. The food was AMAZING. Our families couldn’t stop talking about how great the food was, especially the bread pudding, steak, French onion soup, and Croque madame. The patio is a beautiful garden that makes you feel like you’re not even in Chicago anymore. I would do the day over 10000x without any changes if I had to, it was perfect.

One of my favorite meals of the year! There’s something to be said about French restaurants. The ambiance is elite, from a vibes and service perspective.

We started with some drinks, I got a white wine (Foucher-Lebrun). Fantastic flavors and the dryness drove the drink.

For appetizers, I enjoyed the French onion soup and thought the escargot stole the show. The presentation of it was superb, the snails tasted tender, and the oil/herbs complimented it better.

The steak tartar was great, it had a modern spin to it. It wasn’t served traditionally with only the raw meat, it was served with multiple flavors such as mushrooms and chips.

I was disappointed with the side dishes with ordering the ordering the mash potatoes and the mac and cheese. The texture of both was off-putting and the serving of them two could have been better.

The steak frites were great, the meat was cooked well and tender. The fries were great as well.

For desserts we really enjoyed the bread pudding and the basque cheesecake. The chocolate pudding dessert could be omitted for next time.

Overall positive experience and would go back!
