My friend and I had great expectations for this place. And we were not disappointed. The decor is interesting, relating to art nouveau style, and we sat in a booth surrounded by red fabric. We shared a terrine for starter, very good. I had a magret de canard for main dish. Here I wasn’t so impressed. Some things don’t need to be reinvented. Baby beetroots had no place in the dish. And the magret was overdone. The waiter was clearly not familiar with the cooking of magret. But the dessert, tarte tatin fixed any previous disappointment. It was delicious. The Château Larose Perganson was magnificent, perfect for the meal. Service was good. The prices are on the expensive side, but it seems impossible to dine with wine for less than 100-150 dollars there days. In summary, very good restaurant, but not excellent, or unforgettable. I’d give 4.5 stars if possible.

This is not an easy place to review though overall I five rhem 5 stars. Great ambiance, lovely upstairs dining room. Romantic with chandeliers. Service was very good. Prices were not cheap but par for the course. The food howrver was average. Definitely french but nothing spectacular. The escargot where ok but nothing special. Same for the other items. The special was Beef Wellington which is an English dish. It was above average. as was the vichisoise. If you ask for coffee and looking for a classic french press, no good. Only italian expresso american coffee. Bottom line, lovely restaurant that could serve better quality grench food. Go for ambiance of upstairs dining rooms.

The ambiance is comfortable, and everything meets expectations, though there are no particular surprises.

The dishes pictured are escargot, roasted quail, onion soup, and filet mignon—the flavors, like the setting, won’t disappoint.

If possible, I’d give it 4.5 stars.

This is really one of the best French restaurant. We first came 6 years ago and back now; it doesn’t disappoint. The ambience is perfect for a date. My husband brought me for my birthday and we had a great time.

Delicious!!! Best French soup I have had in a long time. The atmosphere and food complemented each other. Our server Elif provided an amazing service. Will be back soon

The food was mostly delicious. The steak frites were not as good as expected, the meat was not soft and needed more taste. But the 3-course meal for $35 is a good deal. The French coffee was not good, but it depends if you like the grand marnier.

DC is mostly a casually dressed city even in it’s fine dining. So I was a little surprised how dressed up everyone here was for lunch. It’s probably a function of its proximity to Congress.

I can’t comment on the dinners but the lunch was good and reasonably priced. It wasn’t cheap but the price was good for the food. The service was excellent atmosphere was good even if the decor was showing its age a bit.

This is one of those places where I wish google had a more nuanced review scale because my biggest criticism was just that it wasn’t great. Sometimes 5 stars means good, sometimes great. Bistro Cacao is good. I’d definitely go there again, but its not a place I’m dying to return to.

Waited over an hour to be seated after having a reservation on the 14th. Service was almost non-existent, waiting more than 30 between each small dish. We got there at 9:20PM for a 9:30 reservation, sat down around 10:30, ended up taking dessert to go since it was almost 1am by the end of the meal.
1 star for the service, food was actually pretty good.
The automatic 20% gratuity feels like a slap in the face for the cost of the meal and level of service provided. For 2 people, it was over $350 with NO drinks.

We finally gave it a try to their dinner and brunch menu (different dates) and we were amazed on how hospitable and warm this place makes you feel. Special distinction to Samuel Eduardo (bartender and manager) how really raise the standard. Also our server Maria also was great and paid great attention to details during our meal.

One of the best Brunches I have had in a long time! This place is amazing! Not only it is affordable but The price, the decor, the food, the drinks are all top notch! I can’t rave about it enough.

My friends and I went there for their all you can eat brunch and bottomless drinks. Let’s just say we were not disappointed.

I started with Onion soup, followed by steak and frites and ended with creme brulee. Everything was delicious and the portions were big.
