We started generously—both a salad and the soup of the day, a comforting minestrone that tasted like my Nonna had made it. That was followed by the two arancini on offer, each distinct and delicious.
For mains, restraint was not part of the plan. We were excited to hear about the off-menu item: crab-stuffed ravioli in a bisque-style sauce. It was rich without being overwhelming. The gorgonzola ravioli delivered a bold, deeply satisfying contrast. Both dishes wowed us thoroughly. Unapologetically indulgent.
A crisp white wine tied everything together beautifully—though sharing the entire bottle between two people turned out to be more of a commitment than expected
Dessert was non-negotiable: tiramisu and cannolo, both because you can’t leave without trying them ♂️
The ambiance is inviting, the menu thoughtfully curated, and the service genuinely attentive. If it’s been on your list, consider this a gentle nudge to finally make the visit. But, bring your appetite because you will be seriously full after this
PS : Portions are very generous. The fried calamari is excellent.
The food is comforting, flavorful, and clearly made with care. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients, and the portions are generous without feeling heavy. It’s the kind of place that feels authentic and unpretentious, yet delivers quality dishes that you’ll think about long after you leave.
What really puts the experience over the top is the service. The staff are incredibly warm, attentive, and welcoming — the kind of hospitality that makes you feel like a regular even if it’s your first visit. That level of genuine friendliness is rare and it makes the whole meal even more enjoyable.
The atmosphere is lively with that classic neighborhood café energy where everyone seems to be having a great time.
Honestly, everything was so good that we’re already talking about planning another trip to Montreal just so we can eat here again. If you’re visiting the city, Café Amerigo is absolutely worth making time for.
The beet salad was OUT OF THIS WORLD, the focaccia was WOW, and the polpettes…ouf My mama makes the best but these came very close (sorry guys but my mama’s polpettes will always be #1). The pasta was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of cheese And that dessert platter: STUNNING! I may have hogged the tiramisu because it’s my favorite dessert and this one was juicy, creamy and absolutely delicious. I’m craving it again as I write this!
The service was impeccable. The atmosphere felt so homey and welcoming. I’m definitely coming back with friends and family.
Thank you Bistro America team for this unforgettable night!
Spinach arancini — 7
Beef arancini — 7
Sauce average.
Gnocchi — 10. Perfection. We waited almost an hour, but this made it worth it. The sauce was perfect, and the gnocchi was so good — I really felt it was homemade. It was soft and delicious. Only place I like gnocchi. The mushrooms were yummy as well, and I liked the different shapes of mushrooms.
Paper dell — 7 lacks a little salt, I found. Felt like more meat than pasta, not really any sauce. The meat felt a little dry. The pasta shape was so great and felt very fresh.
All in all, cute place — I’ll always be a fan. Good ambiance, service is good. Cute dim lighting, perfect for a dinner date with your boo or with your girls. I even waited around 40 minutes in the cold, but it was worth it for the gnocchi mushroom pasta.
nice but not overbearing service – although we did feel some pressure to have to leave as we were a large group of 7 (was was 1/3 of their table space).
the food was all fantastic. incredible. that’s where the five stars comes from and it is well deserved.
We shared the polpete as appetizers, which tasted great. We then had the eggplant pasta and the duck pasta. They were served with a very tasty green salad. Both were good, and portions were super generous, we could barely finish, but we weren’t wowed.
Service was quick, and the place is very charming and cosy.
Overall, we enjoyed our experience, we’ll come back for dinner to try other dishes and see how that compares.
