We stumbled by this quaint & cozy tavern on the way home & we’re so glad we did ! The ambiance was rustic & welcoming just how you want a Tavern, the music selection was great & not too loud. Our lovely bartender was most accommodating & all the regulars were very inviting.
We had the delicious French Onion soup, Cesar Salad with the most perfectly seared, yet deliciously rare piece of salmon ! Also the fish & chips with a lovely crispy batter on the thickest piece of cod over crunchy hand cut fries & homemade tartar ! Exceeded expectations across the board. Compliments to the Chef!! Will definitely return & recommend!!

I will start with the positive. The young lady that waited on us was great. Very attentive. Unfortunately my chicken sandwich came out very undercooked/raw. Disappointing. However the French onion soup was amazing. All the tv’s were tuned to professional wrestling, Not my idea of preferred dining viewing especially for folks there with children, but the music playing was terrific.
Our table was not very clean and the handprints on the wall leads me to believe it’s time for a good deep clean.
Again, our young waitress was the shining star of the evening.

Me and my family have been eating and drinking at this tavern for a very long time. The owner cares a lot about his employees. It’s always great to see alot people act like one big family. Going to bishop hill tavern has always been a fun experience. I encourage people throughout the country to stop by. They have great deals! Amazing selection. Passionate

I’ve been here a bunch of times and the food and service is always great here. They have a great place both inside and out. Especially in the summer. But the food is legit here. If you’re in the area, its definitely worth the stop.

We heard this restaurant was under new ownership/ management, we were here last year for the first time, the food was terrible back then, had an old bar smell. The place looks a little better, but still doesn’t have a welcoming atmosphere, very outdated and dark. We tried the pasta and chicken parm, sauce was salty, chicken was dry, like precooked frozen chicken, so you get what you pay for. Our waitress was nice; it just took her a while to wait on our table. Overall, was not a good lunch.

Cheesesteak sandwich arrived very hot and was great. Fries lukewarm. Special “eggplant” lasagna had good cheese and tomato sauce, but layers of bread and very little eggplant(found 1 piece). Wait was over a half hour. Beatles music background.

Disappointed. Wanted to try this place for a while. Everything was sticky, from the salt and pepper shakers to the steak knife. Very dark in there and trying to read the black menu was a challenge. Portions we’re mediocre to small. Request no mushrooms but got them anyway. Menu said the dish had peppers but didn’t get those. Just very disappointing.

If I could give less than one star, I would. Sat for 15 minutes without being acknowledged. It went from bad, to worse. The Cod smelled so horrific my daughter could smell it across the table. When the waitress came over I told her and she asked if I wanted something else. I was afraid but I ordered a burger to go. She left it on the table we could not stand it so I put it on the empty table right next to us. I’m very understanding if you’re busy I get it, but she was not.
We did get the chicken tenders with Thai chili that was okay.

Was in the area and just about lunch time when I decided to finally check out Bishop Tavern. They have a 8 dollar lunch deal which gives you a choice. Between a burger, chicken parm and a couple other choices, I ended up getting the cheese burger and added bacon. The French fries could have stayed in the fry lighter a little longer but besides that it was a great deal for lunch. Definitely have some great menu items I would like to check out for next time. While waiting for your lunch play some keno.
