FYI; I’m writing this as we wait.
We walked in and waited to be seated. Didn’t seem like there were many guests but we were seated on the side and waited about 10 minutes to be seated in the back area! I was surprised that a server actually had on pajamas AT WORK! We gave the “waitress” our drink and meal order since it seemed like the food would take a while to get to us! It took another 5 minutes for me to get my coffee and my husband to get ice for his coke, sodas are in cans so he needed ice. The waitress finally came back to check on us after another patron needed assistance. Food just arrived! Hubby’s eggs were cold so those went back. I had the French toast breakfast with sausage, scrambled eggs and “hashbrowns”(cut up potatoes fried)
I JUST informed the waitress that I ordered sauceage and not bacon and she said to me “You did order bacon not sauceage!” I explained to her I KNOW i didn’t because I don’t order bacon when I go out for breakfast, EVER! She brought back my eggs and sauceage shortly after taking it back to the kitchen! My hubby’s food came back and everything was remade! The cook brought out out himself and I explained to him that the eggs were the only issue! He explained that he remade it all so everything could be nice and hot when he brought it back out! We appreciated that very much! The food was very good but the potatoes had absolutely no seasoning to them! It’s nice to know that we weren’t the only customers that had an issue! I think its more so on the customer service side than the kitchen! Kudos to the kitchen staff! Your “waitresses” set the tone for your establishment and that reflects on the owner/ managers. They’re the first people the customers see and interact with and ultimately they’re the deciding factor if customers will be back or not! I wanted to give the cook a cash tip but didn’t have cash! My hubby put the tip when he cashed out and was told that it’s split between everyone, so I hope he gets his portion! Good luck to this BOB!

Back again! Doin it and doin it and doin it well . Another visit here while visiting and the food is still great. The young lady at the front was pleasant and friendly- great food suggestions. This time we had strawberry stuffed waffles, seafood grits, BJ Hash . Everything was great – come hungry with a side of Patience and its bound to be a great experience.
Not sure if the coffee has changed or if the hazelnut creamer just went better with it – but definitely better than last time.

This place is a true hidden jem. Great food,hospitality and atmosphere Highly recommend. Did I mention that they make their own jams ,delicious. If you visit Lake Charles Texas checkout days and times when open, it is worth the trip.

Hidden gem!! Perfect mom & pop restruant!! Lovely waitress. We went for breakfast. Food was fantastic!! Be advised… get there early. The place fills up fast. Also, with the restruant being a mom & pop restruant, there is a bit of a wait for your food. But, the wait is so worth it!!

My husband had the jambalaya grits, and I ordered the BJ Breakfast. The grits were excellent—flavorful. We were both happy with our meals overall. Unfortunately, the biscuits were a major letdown: dry, crumbly, and surprisingly bad. The strawberry and blueberry peach jams were watery and unappetizing. We’d return just for the grits—they were that good.
The exterior of the place isn’t very inviting and the neighborhood feels a bit rough, but if you’re in the mood for some really good grits, it’s worth a visit. We were visiting from Texas and would come back again—but only for the grits. The biscuits and jam were a real disappointment.

This restaurant has some of the best breakfast food I’ve ever eaten. I love every aspect about this restaurant. The service was great and the food was amazing! My food was hot and fresh and made perfect. The chicken was very juicy and crispy, the eggs were on point and the biscuits were homemade and were some of the best biscuits I’ve ever had. They serve various amounts of different jams with your food, and you can even buy some for yourself to take home. The one that was served with my food was either a cherry or strawberry, but it made by biscuits taste like a cupcake! It was delicious. I can’t wait to come back and try more things.

We came to LA to gamble and ate dinner at the casino, same stuff we get in Houston. For Breakfast we decided we wanted to eat something local and decided to check this place out on the way out of town. I’M GLAD WE DID! Small hole in the wall spot with a full parking lot. We were greatest as we walked in and seated promptly. The waitress gave suggestions (which my wife took). She had the bacon stuffed french toast and said it was “life-changing”. I had HANDS DOWN the BEST Shrimp and grits I’ve ever eaten. If you want good food this is your spot. Lake Charles is lucky to have this place. My wife and I are going make the 2 1/2hr drive at some point just for breakfast! It was that good! By far the highlight of our visit to Lake Charles was finding this joint.

The food is absolutely amazing, service is excellent. We actually bought homemade jam from them that was the best I’ve ever tasted!!!!! Fave spot in lake Charles!
And, we are vegetarian and the owner was INCREDIBLE AT ACCOMMODATING!!!!!!!!!! I would recommend this place to anyone!!!! It’s an actual godsend for vegetarians in this area!!!!
