I was craving Indian food and happy to find this relatively new food truck. Google reviews look good with 4.4 stars from 134 reviewers at the time of this writing. Mostly for portion sizes, good taste, and reasonable prices. I’m sad to say my experience is quite the opposite.

I ordered Samosa Chaat and Hyderabadi Dum Ka Mutton Biryani via Uber Eats for convenience. I don’t mind *too much* about the inflated price and quite misleading pictures (for portion sizes) on those delivery apps. What bothers me is there’s barely any meat for the biryani…it’s mostly small bones with tiny meat on them…and there’s no samosa for my “*samosa* chaat.” Not even sev (crispy noodles).

Tastewise, the (missing samosa) chaat was quite plain and tasteless. Not much flavor at all. The biryani, on the other hand, was full of flavor. Yes, that’s good. What’s NOT good about it (besides the portion size with barely any meat) is there are bits and pieces of herbs/spices in EVERY bite. Tough ginger skins, cardamon seeds, cloves, cinnamon sticks, star anise (that’s a surprised spice for biryani…for me, at least)…you name it! Try soaking a piece of clove/a small piece of cinnamon until they’re soft and chew on them. That’s what it tastes like. There’s no way to remove those bits and pieces for every bite. It was quite an unpleasant experience!

As for the “service,” I can’t tell if it was Uber Eats’s fault or not. But, it took quite a long time (almost 40 minutes) before my order showed up as (Uber’s driver) picked up. It took the driver less than 10 minutes for his trip of less than 3 miles.

So my husband and I went to eat at your takeaway trailer and it was horrible your service was great but the food was so hot I could not eat it I got the goat and you kept saying chicken and when we got home my husband’s food was still extremely spicy hot he had tofu Tika but even the samosas were extremely spicy. I understand cultural food. But this was inedible spicy. I get YOU may like your food lava spicy but this was ridiculous. I have to eat halal but you made me not wanting to go back. Your prices are great and portions as well. The other thing was it smelt very bad by the tables like something had died. Your sauces are good too but I can not recommend if you think LAVA SPICY is your idea of tasting good. Because whenever it is so Spicy you can’t taste anything. And I am sure you put a lot of flavour into your food but it can not be tasted if it’s so Spicy it can’t be eaten. ☹️ Tone down the spicy .

Dahipuri: average, can do better at home;
Gobi Manchurian: we ordered one more because it was too good, 5/5; but expensive though

Goat biryanis: 4/5, it’s good but not surprisingly good.

Service: was quick, and nice lady who took our order.

We payed $50 for 4 things for 2 people

I ordered from Biryani N Chaat through Uber Eats and was really impressed with the quality and taste. The Chicken Biryani was aromatic and well-spiced — exactly what you’d hope for from a good Indian kitchen. The Chicken Manchurian was flavorful with the perfect balance of spice and tang, and it traveled well without getting soggy.

We ordered gobi Manchurian and paneer biryani. It didn’t look like gobi Manchurian was fried at all. It felt like tomato ketchup poured on boiled cauliflower. We had ordered mild paneer biryani but it was absolutely bland. We are never going back.

We ordered dahi puri to eat at the food truck and clearly mentioned that it was not a to-go order. However, we were given a DIY kit instead. When we brought this up, we were told that this is their standard practice because “the puris would get soggy otherwise,” which honestly made no sense for a dine-in order. If that’s the case, it should have been mentioned upfront. We were expecting freshly prepared dahi puri – not a take-home kit while standing right there to eat.

Mysore masala Dosa taste was awesome but the pav bhaji was average. Only one person is cooking and he brings up homemade taste. Worth trying and I will be visiting again to try other items. Finally another Indian food truck in South Austin.

Great Chaat place. I was quite apprehensive of the place before trying but was pleasantly surprised by the taste of the food. The Aloo tikki chaat is one of the best I’ve had in a long time. The onion pakora complimented the chai well. Probably the only good option for chaat/evening snack in South Austin.

Went late night. Loved it. Had paneer tiki masala which was fantastic and samosa chaat. Wife had a lentil curry she really liked. Prices were reasonable IMO compared to most food trucks. Pictures don’t do it justice. Woke up craving more. Highly recommend.
