Under new management. No Tex-Mex but Authentic Mexican dishes. The menu is short but made with love and full of flavor. My husband ordered Molletes with Pastor and I ordered Chillaquilles with Barbaroca meat. The owner was very kind and took the time to explain the menu as it was our first time. Oh and did I mention he gave us a free sample of their homemade bread pudding. It was so good that I had to order a to go for later. We will definitely return!!!

FABULOUS EXPERIENCE
About a month ago Birotes transitioned from a solid Tex-Mex eatery to a delightfully delicious Mexican fusion restaurant… Birotes blends traditional Mexican flavors with international influeces like Lebanese and Korean.
The dishes here are vibrant and fresh, seamlessly combining spicy, tangy, and savory flavors. I highly recommend this charming update! Cheers!

This neighborhood eatery is the quintessential “hole in the wall”.
Birotes serves up classic Tex-Mex cuisine, and some of the best salsa I’ve had. A bit smokey with a smidge of spice, it complements the cheese enchiladas and the empanadas.
The service is friendly and casual, and the space small. Get there early for their much beloved brunch. Cheers!

Soo good I don’t even know where to start! I loved the beans more than any other ones I’ve had and the tortillas were so soft . The size of the food was more than enough to take home the waiter we had was also very good and even gave us some recommendations! Definitely going back soon!

This quaint spot offers a variety of unique Mexican flavors and dishes not common the San Antonio area.

The food is amazing and the wait staff are some of the kindest people you will meet. Eager they accommodate special requests.

Bakery is rooted in traditional Mexican style! Coffee with cinnamon is a must try for those who like experiencing new coffee flavors.

Worth the visit…enjoy!

This is one of the best traditional Mexican restaurants around. Absolutely amazing food. I strongly recommend the chilaquiles divorciados for breakfast or the quesabirria for lunch. Portions are huge and everything is well seasoned. The sauce, the beans, the potatoes, the queso fresco and crema, literally everything was delicious. Tortillas were soft, delicate and fresh. I feel bad I overlooked this restaurant for so long. Here, in northeast San Antonio, we have very few hot spots for eating out, but this restaurant is definitely it. I hope they stay open for a long time!

It was great.* The food was prepared to perfection. The rice had herbs..the beans a familiar flavor. The enchiladas were made with roast cubes.. wonderful flavor to the gravy. The chips were blended corn, and the salsa was heavy and thick. I loved the soft, airy flour tortillas with a feeling of flour on them to the touch. Recommending the beef enchiladas.
Service and atmosphere lacked, tho. I came in to find dirty unkempt tables.. then the busboy (who had taken his lunch during the lunch hour) came by to clean my table.
To my dismay, he wiped the table scraps onto the floor.. Then, walking around the table, he proceeded to step on the food he wiped off the table. When I complained.. he got a broom and cleaned up his mess.
I ordered chopped onions on my plate, but that didn’t happen. I complained and the cook (manager?) came out to speak with me. I still Recommend the food as prepared. Go try this local hideaway.

Went at 11:30 sat afternoon. 7 tables were taken. Worship music playing in the background as always, no complaints here. Had the pancakes and the chilaquiles. Great portions and good service.

I’ve been a regular at this fantastic Mexican restaurant for two years, and it never disappoints! The chilaquiles and quesabirrias are must-tries, bursting with authentic flavors that whisk you away to Mexico.

Yes, there’s a wait during peak hours, but that’s expected at any popular spot. Trust me, the delicious food is well worth the wait!

If you love Mexican cuisine, this place is a real gem. Highly recommend checking it out!

This is a family owned business. We talked with the woman serving us, who is so pleasant, and she told us they took over the restaurant 2 yrs ago.
It’s a small location that packs a great punch. Upon entering the door, you’ll see 2 glass cases filled with Mexican pan. We were told we could have a seat anywhere we’d like and they would be right with us. Our host for the night came to take our drink order and I settled for a limonada mixed with pineapple drink. The menu has so much to offer. For dinner I had the potato tacos that are fried to a crispy golden brown. They come with cabbage, radish and onion on the side and for an extra charge, some carnitas on the side. It also came with birria to dip the tacos in. We also shared the Birria Stew. The tacos were delicious with all that came with it! The portions were perfect and the taste reminded me of being back home in El Paso. I don’t find those kind of tacos just anywhere. The Birria stew was equally delicious! It came with radish, lime, onion & cilantro on the side if you wish to use. The flavor was exceptional. I took most of it home as it was a huge bowl.
On the way out, I purchased some pan. 2 conchas and a pineapple cream cheese cake. The gentleman that helped us told us his mom does all the baking in house. Let me tell you, those are the best Mexican sweets I’ve had ever! The conchas were ever so soft and the cake was so delicious!!
Thank you Birotes for a well rounded meal… I’ll definitely be coming back soon
