Had a reservation today and was seated right away, even asked for a table with a good view and got it!! Big plus…. Until the service killed everything I expected (1st time here).
Waiter ( didn’t get his name, no name tag, Hispanic male with short shorts)
Person #1 ordered iced tea, when the tea was gone (which was mostly ice) he picked up the glass from the table, not a word and walked away. We thought maybe he went to get a refill as he said nothing. When she asked if she could get a refill, he acted stunned and was like “refill” all confused, well he then says no that this from a bottle and that’s it, you only get that glass as to insinuate that’s all that was in the bottle? We were still totally confused. Well if it from a bottle, and that’s all you get ( pretty sure that whole bottle did not fit in the glass of ice), but walked away and offered no further explanation. Anywho, rude about it.
Person #2 had a draft beer and when he was done, that glass was also picked up without a word and not even would you like another as any server would have done!
Also person #1 ordered a Greek salad with chicken that came out about 10 minutes after everyone else’s meal (Table of 4).
But not one time did they say anything.
Person #2 ordered a burger RARE ( I know, yuck) but it was far from rare but didn’t send it back, he just ate it anyway.
Person #3 had a medium RARE burger that was perfect.
I will say, the food was absolutely amazing and delicious (reason for the 3*) however due to the poor service, we may never return.
If you dare to brave the poor customer service, the linguini pesto was amazing, added chicken!
Birdseye, suggestion to remind staff of customer service and proper etiquette with customer’s.
Our server was not the only rude one!
** the young tall blonde kid with blue shirt was very kind ( he is the one who sat us).
They DO take reservations, but I also had no trouble finding a seat at 11am on a Sunday. Do be advised: 100% of the seating is outside, and the wind does blow in off the cove, so dress warmly, especially in the mornings.
This place is super easy to miss, and requires a walk up a long flight of stairs. Maybe that’s part of what has kept this spot a hidden gem, but now you are in know.
Our drinks were as follows:
Saturn’s Reward – 8/10, a great citrus drink. really easy to drink and smooth, a great citrus flavor. A bit overpriced at $21, but still a good drink.
Queen of the Night – 8/10, this was a really solid espresso martini! the flavor and balance was great. Again, really good espresso martini, I just don’t know if it was worth $20
The Bartender made a face when the waiter asked him (at my request)if he had coconut rum (nice day and I was feeling tropical)…a reaction that very clearly indicated that he considered it a low-brow request. Needless to say they didn’t have it so I ordered a bloody mary that was not drinkable when it arrived. It was unseasoned and watery with zero seasoning except Worcestershire…a LOT of it. It was undrinkable and the fact that it sat untouched was never questioned by the waiter.
We shared the Octopus and Shrimp Fra Diavolo: sauce was very good, shrimp was decent, octopus was tough and rubbery- almost unable to be cut.
Two drinks and a shared plate was $70 not including tip. While the prices themselves are not an issue… they DO set an expectation for at least edible food and drinkable cocktails with attentive service. This restaurant does not meet the bar.
We were greeted and sat immediately since we were the first ones there, which is odd for a Sunday morning. We ordered the mimosas and they were cute and very good. Mostly champagne, but that’s the way we like it!! LOL
Our party ordered the breakfast sandwich, the breakfast burrito, steak and eggs, berries & cream toast, and scrambled eggs. For the most part, everyone enjoyed their meals. I had the steak and eggs. The steak was a thin cut steak, so of course they cook in 2.7 seconds, so it was over cooked, and it was salty. And although my friend who ordered the berries and cream toast THOUGHT it was french toast (it was not LOL) she still enjoyed it. As we got ready to leave, it started to get busy, but the service was great and we definitely enjoyed it.
