We dined here the night before lunar new year and were impressed by the hosts hospitality. We didn’t have a reservation and instead of giving us the usual snobby rebuke, the hostess added our name to the list & gave us nice hot teas to enjoy while we waited. Wait was around 30 min which felt reasonable, we got sat at the bar. Lovely bartenders, they all conversed with us and made us feel welcome, even provided helpful input on the menu. I felt like I was invited over someone’s house for dinner. The dishes were truly flavorful & unique, and the jasmine hot teas was exceptional. We recommend beef with green chili & the fried fish. I would not leave without trying the Dan Dan noodles & a dumpling of some kind (spoiler theyre all good.) I’ll have to come back for the cocktail list, it’s a treasure hunt! Could not have asked for a better dining experience. I hope the owners & staff are successful in all their endeavors, because they put their heart & soul in this place.

What can I say? Delicious food, great, attentive service. We had the spicy tofu pudding, the eggplant, the Kung pao, the spicy fish, and purple rice. Do yourself a favor and get the celtuce.

The rice pudding was the perfect end to the meal, rice and bean paste with raisins and pumpkin seeds in a warm syrup. Will definitely be coming back again, the food was next level.

Birds of a Feather is a beautiful spot tucked away in Williamsburg that really stands out for its atmosphere and design. The space has this perfect balance of industrial and modern décor exposed brick, soft lighting, and elegant touches that make it feel both stylish and welcoming. It’s one of those restaurants where you notice the details right away, from the furniture to the way the dishes are plated.
I stopped in for their lunch special, which I thought was a great deal. The prices are fairly affordable considering the quality and the portions the servings are actually quite large, so you definitely won’t leave hungry. I ordered the chili fish, and it was excellent flavorful, fresh, and just the right level of spice. The food came out quickly, which I really appreciated during lunch hours.
I also tried the egg and scallion stuffed pancake, which ended up being one of my favorite parts of the meal. It’s crispy, savory, and full of flavor the kind of dish that makes you want to come back just for that. Overall, Birds of a Feather is a great place for a relaxed but elevated meal in Williamsburg. Highly recommend checking it out, especially for lunch.

Birds of a Feather never disappoints. I’ve been here multiple times, and each visit has been consistently excellent. The restaurant has a chic yet comfortable vibe that makes it suitable for both casual dinners and special occasions.

The food is outstanding — rich flavors, high-quality ingredients, and thoughtful presentation. Their Sichuan-inspired dishes are full of depth and complexity, with just the right amount of heat. Even simple dishes feel elevated, and everything we ordered came out perfectly cooked. You can tell the kitchen pays close attention to detail.

Service is another strong point. The staff are professional, welcoming, and efficient, and the timing of the dishes was spot on. We never felt rushed, which made the dining experience very enjoyable.

If you’re a fan of modern Chinese cuisine or looking to try something new and memorable, Birds of a Feather is a must-try. Highly recommended, and I’ll definitely be returning.

I’ve ordered from here multiple times, and somehow it always tastes like it just came straight out of the kitchen and onto a dine-in table. The Cantonese spicy dishes are bold, layered, and packed with flavor — that perfect balance of heat, aromatics, and depth that keeps you going back for “just one more bite.”

The consistency is what really stands out. Whether dining in or ordering out, the quality never drops. The spices are vibrant, the ingredients taste fresh, and every dish feels thoughtfully prepared rather than rushed.

If you’re craving authentic Cantonese flavors with a proper spicy kick, this spot delivers every single time. Reliable, flavorful, and absolutely satisfying.

Birds of a Feather is one of those rare restaurants that truly delivers on both atmosphere and flavor. From the moment you walk in, the space feels warm, intimate, and thoughtfully designed — a perfect spot for a cozy dinner with friends or a special night out.

The food is the real highlight. Every dish we ordered was beautifully presented and packed with bold, authentic flavors. You can really taste the care and creativity behind each plate. The menu offers a great balance between traditional Sichuan elements and modern twists, making it exciting even if you’ve had Sichuan food many times before. The spice levels are well-balanced, flavorful rather than overpowering, and every bite feels intentional.

The service was attentive and friendly without being intrusive. The staff were knowledgeable about the menu and happy to give recommendations, which made the experience even better.

Overall, Birds of a Feather is more than just a meal — it’s an experience. If you’re looking for elevated Chinese cuisine in a stylish, welcoming setting, this place is absolutely worth a visit. I would happily come back again.

Fellow wood ear mushroom lovers of the world: try theirs! ‍ I can’t stop thinking about them.

Also recommend: soup buns, dan dan noodles, kung pao chicken, shrimp fried rice… and the eight jewel rice pudding for dessert (tasty as a breakfast leftover too).

Lovely service and nice atmosphere too- sat at the long center banquet table with other diners.

Looking forward to returning ASAP for more wood ear mushrooms ⚡️

First time here. Cant say enough wonderfulness about this restaurant. Every single bite of soft shell crab was scrumptious. The steamed dumplings. Out of this world. The baby ribs. Spectacular. Immaculate premises. Host and all staff could not be nicer or more helpful. A pure joy. The jasmine tea. Im hooked.

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in New York. The space is nicely decorated, comes with outdoor seatings. Service is fast.
The food is the star of the show. The portions are large at this restaurant. The quality doesn’t miss no matter if I dine in or order delivery.
Chungking chicken comes with crunchy small chicken bites, loaded with chillies, packed with flavors and that mouth numbing spiciness. Kung pao chicken is tender, velvety texture. Spicy fish filled is my favorite dish; it’s comes with small fried fish fillers, crunchy, perfect moisture level with that signature spiciness of szechuan chilies. Mapo tofu is also one of the must try dish, hot tofu on a bed of spicy ground pork sauce. It’s perfect for any dinner meal. Spicy cumin lamb is absolutely the most tender and flavorful lamb I have had in a long time. Tea smoked duck offers juicy smoked duck slices, pairs well with buns and sauce.
The restaurant can get really crowded during dinner time. It is suggested to get a reservation ahead of time or to stop by at odd hours to avoid waiting in line.
Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves to enjoy Chinese cuisine or just loves to incorporate chilies in their meals.
