I came to Bird’s Nest expecting bar food. What I got was a culinary séance conducted by Wisconsin wizards. I ordered the fish fry and bit into a fillet so crispy it triggered a past-life regression—I briefly remembered being a lighthouse keeper named Sven.
The burger? A greasy thunder god on a bun. Bacon so thick it filed my taxes. Cheese that whispered secrets in Old Norse.
A bartender handed me a beer I didn’t order and simply said, “Trust the Nest.” I did. Time slowed down. A nearby deer nodded in approval through the window.
By the end of the night, someone handed me a glow stick and a bratwurst and told me I was “ready.” I don’t know for what. I still don’t. But I feel changed.
5 stars. Come hungry, leave transcendent.

A nice clean bar and grill with a good menu. Burger and fries were good.

Stopped after an Ice Age Trail hike at Timms Hill. Clean and friendly. Burgers were excellent. Bartender (Wendy?) was friendly and super nice. Domestic beer in bottles and on tap (Point Special!) +Modelo. Would have loved 1 or 2 micro brews, but perhaps in Rib Lake they wouldn’t be big sellers. We were all hungry and could use a cold beer so this place was perfect for us. -The Ice Agers

If I could give 4.5 stars, I think that would be spot on for Birds Nest. The food doesn’t “wow” or blow you away, but I would say it’s better than your average Northern WI bar. No disappointments here. Generous serving sizes, great prices and good attention to detail. The bartender (Cathy) overheard me telling my friend I really liked shoestring fries but they didn’t come with the meal I ordered. She subbed them in as the side for my meal anyway, and I was pleasantly surprised. Very friendly staff, it was a bit slow and they chatted while we ate. Solid pit-stop in between campsites!

Solid place overall, staff is super friendly. The bartender sat down and ate/talked with us for almost our whole visit, which my partner was okay with but I certainly wanted some space.
Menu is confusingly laid out and not updated. Half of the menu was sold out/they didn’t have because of the pandemic and changing stocks.
Overall good value for what you get, and I mean it was literally the only place open in town for food, so we didn’t have much else of a choice.

I have been coming to Rib Lake for 15 years now to visit my grandmother. I always come up for ice age days. We always end up and the birds nest on main street. Every time I come here there is a bartender named Cindy. She is the absolute BEST! She not only knows how to make anything I request but she is kind, always smiling, and so chill. I really want to commend Cindy for a great experience! I will always come back. That is due to Cindy!

Sat down at the bar and had a beer. There was just one other person in the place at the time. After finishing my beer I waited 20 minutes for another. 2 more people came in and were promptly served. Still no service. Then another 2 people came in and got their drinks. Still nothing. So I did the right thing and got up and left. Leaving no tip. If you’re in town, spend your money elsewhere.

Stopped by on a whim for a quick bite. I was happy to find this hidden treasure. Great atmosphere, lovely bar staff, and not too shabby eats in a great spot. Will absolutely return

Candy was a doll. My friends and I stopped by for a few drinks the other night and had a blast, the environment was friendly and the crowd was outgoing. We will definitely be stopping by more often. Thanks Birds Nest!
