We loved everything about our dining experience ! The people were so nice and the food was amazing. We had a bean appetizer, mafé(?) peanut stew, Thieboudienne– the national dish of Senegal and some amazing juices. Now we have to go back for the Ghanian dish Egusi!

Visiting the area and like finding authentic places to explore. Intended to dine-in but it’s a small venue and reservations filled up by 9:00am. However, there is an option for online ordering with options for time slots.

Some of the dishes and drinks were already sold out.

Ordered Yassa Lamb, it was incredibly good, tender and flavorful. Also got the Mafe Groundnut Beef Stew, in the peanut sauce with spinach. I was expecting chicken because that term was used in the description and the picture resembled it too but the meal was great and the spices she uses takes everything up to another level.

Fresh made papaya juice was great.
Would’ve love the option to add a desert.

Restaurant is in a residential neighborhood that already relies on street parking. I would suggest using Lyft or Uber for drop off since parking can be difficult and may not want to walk from far away.

* suggest adding plastic wrap to take out containers to prevent staining from leakage.

My wife and I rarely have WOW moments when trying food, but this place did just that. I had my head in my hands multiple times throughout the course of dinner just because of the sheer depth of the different flavors. The last time I felt like that was when I first tried Malaysian (Laksa, Beef Rendang) and Thai food. Just please go. Such an underrated cuisine that deserves so much more attention. Definitely go on a Friday or Saturday so you can try the Thieboudieun, which was our favorite out of everything we ordered.

Flavor should be the first and last thing you say after dining here. I brought my wife here after we saw this restaurant on Charleston Infatuation. Didn’t disappoint is a gross understatement. We tried several dishes and everything is out if this world. Please make a reservation and enjoy some truly remarkable food.

Highly recommend! The hot sauce that came with the skewers was amazing, so flavorful. We got several small and large plates and split them amongst four of us, and everything was delicious. We sat on the outdoor patio which had a beautiful set up and great vibes. An overhead fan kept the area cool in the shaded tent. We had a chance to speak with the owners who were lovely. I would definitely come here for authentic African cuisine. We brought a couple bottles of wine with us, as they do not serve alcohol.

My wife and I recently tried this place for her birthday, and it was fantastic. Charleston doesn’t have a lot of diverse food options outside of Southern fare, so we were excited to give it a try. We made a reservation for nine, and they set up a beautiful personalized tent for our party, complete with fans to keep us cool. Most of us had never tried African food, but we loved every dish. One of our friends had actually been to Africa and eaten authentic African food before, and he confirmed that this was as authentic as it gets. The service was outstanding, and the owner was incredibly kind and attentive, spending time talking with us. I highly recommend trying a variety of dishes and sharing them around the table—everything was delicious, especially the wings. The menu rotates, so we’re excited to come back and see what’s new.

Bintu Atelier is one of the most unique spots in Charleston! Its well known chuck isn’t the most diverse with food, but this is a great example of that changing. All the food was savory, and intensely flavorful. To start- all the juices and teas are great! The wings are some of the best I’ve ever had, grilled, well spiced, and ultra tender. The Ndambe is like a bean dip with naan which was very tasty. The three mains were similar- a indian-esk stew with side of rice or fufu. The lamb was excellent, we weren’t as much of a fan of the goat. The Mafe is chicken in a peanut sauce and this stole the show. A great winter dish, thick and savory. The Boabab ice cream is truly bizarre in a good way. It’s both sweet and tart/sour at the same time and finishes a bit “dry” which is hard to describe for ice cream. Obviously, this is not for those who dont like spice, and arent open to new things. Id say it’s like Indian style food on steroids, with more diverse flavors. Place is very small, definitely plan ahead for groups of more than 2 for indoors, there are only about 4 tables total inside with patio outside.
*no booze is served, but can BYOB alcohol with a $5 bottle corking fee*

This place was the best food we had on our trip to Charleston! The atmosphere was perfect, small, quaint and staff was super friendly! We had some homemade juices, the snapper and yassa and it was all cooked and flavored to perfection. I will definitely be visiting this spot again, next time we’re in Charleston!

We decided to place an order to take out. We ordered the pepe soup with goat, shito crab rice, mafe peanut stew with chicken. I am literally blown away with the depth and clean flavor profiles. There is an element of love that is portrayed in these dishes that has me almost awe struck in ways. In a time where we are saturated with mass produced hollowness, this restaurant reached out and grabbed my heart. I sat for 20 minutes looking for the words to describe the talent here. I can’t recall in my mind a meal that comforted me all while balancing flavors so clear, concise and robust. I’ve never given anything I’ve ever eaten a 10… this is the most well deserved 10. Thank you with great sincerity. I will remember this meal as a new benchmark in how loving care can be shared through wonderful food.
