Since my wife and I moved to Roanoke, I’ve been hearing about Billy’s. Thought we’d try it. Let me start by saying it was an enjoyable experience and will be going back. Service was spot on and top notch. Atmosphere was good. We started with Bacon Wrapped Scallops – std order is 3, we ordered 4 ($44). Three of the four were cooked perfectly. One was notably darker in cover suggesting it was not cooked the same as the others (we think overcooked). All delicious and we’d reorder; just the texture was different on the one. My wife wanted a Ribeye and I Seafood. She ordered the 16 oz. Cowboy Ribeye ($49) and I the Seafood platter ($67). My wife requested Medium and what was delivered was a perfect Medium. My suggestion, order Medium Rare. It was delicious, well seasoned, and very enjoyable. It came mashed potatoes and asparagus. Asparagus was delicious. Potatoes were OK, nothing special. My Seafood platter, I was told, would come with 3 scallops, 3 shrimp , and a 12 Oz Lobster Tail. When I placed my order, I requested to be sure the lobster wasn’t overcooked (I’m abit of a lobster snob – spent alot of time in Nova Scotia eating Lobster right off the boat). The lobster came out over cooked and somewhat rubbery. Lacked any spice or flavor. The butter didn’t help much. It most definitely wasn’t a 12 oz tail, I’ve had a 12 oz tail. The shrimp were tiny and also overcooked. Though there were more than 3 shrimp. They were embarrassingly small for a $67 meal. The risotto was good. The saving grace was the Scallops – cooked to perfection. I would not order the Seafood Plater again and would not recommend it. We ended with Limoncello… delicious. In all with the tip, the meal came to $275 (I had two Manhattan’s at $15/each with Bullet Rye). I almost ordered the Seabass… definitely will try it next time. We didn’t order a salad, but those we saw delivered to other tables looked great. In the end, I can recommend and will return to Billy’s. Just stay away from the Seafood Platter…

Billy’s is a must if you are in the area. Delicious food (the potatoes are among the best I’ve ever had) Caroline was an absolute delight and they are lucky to have her, Alex was extremely helpful and David M. was a very accommodating manager. They have a tremendous barrel selection and it’s very well priced. I will add more photos tomorrow since I am coming back for brunch. Do yourself a favor and come here, it makes me wish I lived in Roanoke.

Amazing food!! The Billy’s BBQ sauce was absolutely divine. I got the smoke house burger with a side of fries not expecting too much. I asked for a medium rare and they delivered!!!
The service was prompt and courteous. Great waiters and front of house employees.
Caesar salad dressing was light, tangy and delicious.
I only found the mirror wall to be a bit tacky but that’s personal preference.

The food was pretty good. Would have loved a baked potato instead of mashed though. The ambience sucks. It was too dark to read the menu. I had to use a light on my phone. Kinda loud too. A little over priced for what you get in my opinion, but seems to be par for the area. Would definitely go back.

You’re missing out of you don’t eat at Billy’s. Had a early Valentines dinner that was simply amazing. My wife and I have eaten there a couple times lately for the Sunday brunch. BEST Bloody Mary’s in town. Thank you Anthony for everything. You helped make our dinner perfect. Awesome service. Couldn’t ask for more. Looking forward to our next visit. By the way, the manager is very personable while making his rounds. Thanks to him for running such a great restaurant with such rich history. Bravo!!

Average food with great service, decor could do with an update.
We had just left the hatch after a terrible experience and so were very happy with Krista’s bright and bubbly service
Food was just ok. I had the pork chop and my husband the rib eye. My pork chop was moist and side well cooked, it just lacked a depth in flavor. My husbands rib eye was flattened and spiced, which was not to his taste.
We both shared the crème brûlée for dessert which was very good, really liked the addition of fresh fruit and cream
Decor was incredibly old and seats not that comfortable- could definitely do with an update.

Good food, good service, good Sunday brunch menu and had a great view of the passerby’s coming in after a graduation. The pimento on the stuffed fried tomato stack was very flavorful. Our group also enjoyed the French toast, chicken and biscuits, steak and eggs, and the Bloody Mary bar. There were numerous separate dining areas that help to keep the noise level to a minimum. Street parking was non existent but the garage wasn’t too far away.

The food is always great! The presentation is awesome! The service is consistently friendly and professional. Parking is ridiculous since it’s downtown which is why I’m giving 4 stars. Once you actually get into the restaurant, you’re in for a treat.

Outstanding crab cakes — best outside Maryland
Ate at Billy’s and had one of the best crab cake experiences I’ve had anywhere.
The crab cakes are absolutely phenomenal — packed with jumbo lump crab, minimal filler, perfectly seasoned, and cooked beautifully. Moist, rich, and letting the crab shine. Honestly, the best crab cakes I’ve had outside of Maryland, and better than many I’ve had in Maryland.
Also had the Chilean sea bass and a local Virginia wine — everything was excellent — but the crab cakes stole the show. If you’re even considering them, order them. Worth every bite.
We’ll definitely be back.
