I ordered a bottle of Modelo (they didn’t have Negro Modelo) and an unsweet tea. For food, I went with the Herd Burger and tater tots; my daughter had the BBQ Sandwich with crinkle fries. Both meals were served in baskets with a pickle spear on the side. The waitress brought over large bottles of ketchup and ranch, plus paper trays and silverware.
The food came out quickly, looked fresh, and was served hot. The burger had fresh toppings and even though the patty may have been frozen (as is common for bars), it was cooked perfectly and very tasty. The tater tots were crisp and not greasy. The BBQ sandwich was okay, and the crinkle fries were hot and classic. My daughter, who’s particular about her ranch, thought theirs was “delicious”—she even took some home with her to-go box!
Billy Sundays is packed with TVs showing everything from professional dodgeball to polo and NASCAR, all with a steady 80s music soundtrack. Most of the customers seemed like regulars in their 50s or 60s, and there were a few larger groups. There’s also a gambling room, and a comfy waiting couch by the door. Parking wraps around the building—wonky but sufficient. Only downside: the grass and weeds around the outside could use a bit of grooming.
Service was excellent—our waitress was attentive, kept our drinks filled, and even came by with a basket of candy to choose from before we left. The total was $34.68 for two meals and drinks, which is a great value for the portions and service provided.
Overall, Billy Sundays Sports Bar is a welcoming spot with solid, hearty food, outstanding service, and a fun, casual atmosphere. Just needs a little sprucing up outside!
We’d definitely come back for more!
The establishment was clean, inviting and the service was perfect.
I had the double cheeseburger and a side salad.
The cheeseburger was very large and took both hands to eat, which was a very good thing. The meat was exceptionally juicy and cooked to perfection. The vegetables and condiments were very fresh and full of life.
The reason I am not terribly excited about the visit is because I feel the cheeseburger could use more seasoning. The cheeseburger was very good, but it has the potential to be amazing.
The side salad was beautiful and contained just the right portions of fresh ingredients.
The lack of seasoning is my only complaint, but because everything else was done perfectly, I am retaining the 5 stars for this review.
I’m sure we will be back, but this place isn’t at the top of my list, but it could be with a little tweaking in the kitchen.
We ordered the loaded fries, they were good… But that’s the best of our dining experience.
Today is a Friday, my husband ordered the special, prime rib. They said they didn’t have bread for the prime rib sandwich, so he ordered the nachos. The meat on the nachos was cold and the nacho chips were stale.
I ordered the boneless wings buffalo wings, they were dry breaded not tossed in sauce.
After we got our food, we heard and watched a gentleman at another table order the prime rib sandwich… And they brought him one! After they said they had no bread and my husband had to chose between a prime rib quesadilla or nachos.
I’m not happy and I won’t be returning.
