I don’t give out many 5 star reviews, I’m honest and fair with my experiences resulting in over 19 million views of my Google reviews. Trust me, Billy Sims is one of the best!
A few items the group ordered – ribs, brisket sandwich, sausage, beans, slaw… all were great.
My “go to” order- the brisket sandwich (chopped) and a side of the beans. Let me say, THE BEST BEANS IN THE BUSINESS!!!! I let the meat and sauce drip from the sandwich into the beans…
Try this, you will not regret it!
I highly recommend Billy Sims and will return many times!!!

My partner and I love the menu at Billy Sims, but our experience in Joplin has been lackluster. We used to go to the other location under prior ownership and would consistently be missing sides, waiting in the drive-thru for half an hour, poor customer service, etc. When the new location opened up we were ecstatic to try the new place with hopes that the food would be great along with the service.

The food is excellent, we have had 10/10 experience on the food itself. However, the wait times and customer service has made this place a nightmare all over again. We were calling to place orders because it was easier that way, but on 2 separate occasions when we called we were placed on hold and nobody ever came back. We made it to the restaurant and the phone was still laying on the counter and on the line with me while the employee was standing at the register waiting for us to come in. The second time, I hung up and attempted to call back and the phone was left on a busy signal to not allow anymore calls. Tried for over half an hour and the phone never came live again. Came into the restaurant, phone’s on the counter again with nobody next to it. Yikes.

The last couple of times I decided to place an online order. I wait the time it tells me (usually 15-30 minutes depending how busy) and when I show up – my order is still not even started yet. Consistently.

Last night when I went in, I went up to the counter and shared that I had a to-go order (it was 25 minutes since i placed my order). He asked my name, sighed, then said “we’re just now starting it sorry we’re busy” – no worries. Expected it, honestly. A lady was in line behind me and placed an order as I walked away from the counter. I went back out to my car where my family was waiting, and sat in the car and watched to wait for them to finish up my order.

I watched the lady that came in after me and placed her order AT THE COUNTER get her food handed to her, I went inside again and they said “they were still working on it”. I watched them pick up my half-completed order from behind them and finish working on it. 45 minutes after I placed my order did they finally hand it over. At this point, the food’s cold, my 2 year old son is a mess in the car, I left and wasted $40 on that experience.

The customer service is awful. Full stop. No management, bad attitudes, unprofessional, and I can eat a full meal with a waiter for the same price and time it takes to pickup a to-go order from this location.

My company considered catering with you guys for an upcoming event and I dissuaded them from doing so based on this most recent experience. I hope you value the feedback, because the food and menu are delicious. But these other problems will run this location into the ground like the last one if they aren’t addressed fast.

This was my first visit to Billy Sims BBQ, and it definitely won’t be my last! Prices are a bit high, but I’ve been craving barbecue, and they delivered. The chopped brisket was the star—tender, full of flavor, and perfectly textured. I paired it with Billy’s BBQ beans, which were just as rich and savory, and added some broccoli at home for balance (surprisingly, it made the broccoli taste better too!).

The sliced brisket, which was lean, didn’t quite have the same depth of flavor as the chopped version, but that’s likely because it lacked the fatty richness that makes brisket shine. For dessert, I tried the cherry stacker, and it was absolutely fantastic—a sweet way to end the meal.

On top of the great food, the staff was warm, welcoming, and friendly. All in all, an excellent experience that has me already looking forward to my next visit! And as a bonus, they are located next to Tropical Smoothie Cafe, my favorite place to grab a drink!

DO NOT COME HERE unless you want to spend a fortune on below low quality food and service. Somehow this is almost $90 worth of food. We ordered the game day pack which is supposed to feed 3-5 people as well as a $12 salad. The pack was supposed to come with 2 pint size sides and 4 pieces of toast. Even with a very small menu, the person that took the order seemed to have never heard of this and needed assistance taking the order. Even still, I only received 2 individual sides and no toast. Meat was cold and pretty sure was no where near 1.5 lbs of meat as described on menu. The salad was missing several toppings as well and had onions which we asked to leave off AND they were out of their signature dressing. Used to love this place but won’t be back. For just reopening a few days ago you’d think they’d have it together more.

So good! Try the triple 20 sandwich, it comes WITH coleslaw on the top! Mouth watering good. The mac was so creamy. Staff were delightful. Can’t wait to go again.

Our first time here and very disappointed. At dinner time on a Friday night, there were only 2 employees working the entire restaurant. They were clearly flustered and having a hard time keeping up. My husband and I both ordered the 4 rib combo with 4 different sides so we could try them, and a loaded spud to try. They were out of pulled pork. Everything we ordered ( ribs, mac n cheese, green beans, and baked beans) was either luke warm or cold. Very disappointing because if it had been hot, it would have been a good meal. We waited 20 minutes from the time we ordered until we got our meal because they were so behind (not their fault). Our bill was $50 for some cold food.

We ate here a couple of months ago, in November. It was incredibly expensive for just okay food… Ordered online and when we got there to pick up, they hadn’t even started our order. The restaurant was quiet on a Friday evening with only 3 customers standing around with arms crossed, looking irritated. We got a tailgater pack for $75+, supposed to feed 6-8 people, barely fed 2 adults and 2 kids that don’t eat much and leftovers were thrown away because no one wanted it. We aren’t picky and don’t waste food, so that was pretty disappointing. The “pints” of sides were not actually a pint, they held about a cup of food and some were half full. I had to point out that their menu online vs signs on the wall in the restaurant vs menus in the restaurant did not match in price or quantity of food for the “deal” that I got, before they would give me the rest of my order. The middle aged woman in charge was rude to customers, argued with me and the kid working about the menu issue, and then acted angry when she realized that she was wrong and stormed off. No apology. She was very hateful and condescending to the two young boys working. We were going to try it again recently, but again the restaurant was bare and employees looked angry, so we left. I don’t understand the good reviews…

I’ve never been to Billy Sims and now I’m kicking myself because the old location had a drive thru! I got the Loaded Spud but I didn’t have high hopes as most of the spuds at BBQ places nearby are seriously lacking. My Loaded Spud was a monster! It was just a little over $14 including tax and worth every penny. The staff was super busy with a catering order and were still helpful, friendly, and efficient. We will definitely be returning!

What a shame! And how can company only have 2 workers at 7pm on a Friday night!!!!

I feel bad for the 2 over worked workers. Manager needs to do a better job!

It took us 20 minutes to just tell them twice what we ordered because the girl who took our order disappeared for like 5 minutes and the guy helping her was doing it all and had to ask us what we ordered. The ribs are great but I wish our food was hot. My Mac and cheese was like warm. The sound was undercooked, and lacks CHEESE . They sprinkle a little on a lukewarm potato. The toast was the only hot thing on our plate.
