Part of a regional chain long known for its cheeseburgers, hot dogs & frozen custard.

Good food, IF you can get it. I’ve waited up to 30 minutes, just for a Cheeseburger to go.
They have the DUMBEST system and Staffing I’ve ever seen. All orders depend on a single employee to package and hand to the customers.
Heaven forbid that one individual is busy, or outside smoking.
Meanwhile, the people standing at the registers aren’t allowed to turn around and get my now-cold burger. Unbelievable.

I’ve been to a few bill grays but none with this view and none with outdoor seating with bands like this venue! Food is good! Staff is efficient. Atmosphere a huge huge plus!

If you’re looking for a place that serves garbage plate, but not the trademarked one, because they’re not the originators, and so they call it a Great Plate, but anyway, you can get it there as well as other delicious food, including what they say is the world’s best cheeseburger, you have found it in Bill Gray’s.
We visited Rochester not entirely to have a garbage plate, but that was definitely a large reason for it, and we came away delighted and satisfied by this unusual dish.
The drinks were good. The prices were okay and the service was fun and easy.

I ordered a cheese bacon burger all the way minus the hot chill sauce they offer. I asked for it on the side just to taste it, and I don’t recommend it on a burger. Of course this my opinion but it was just too spicy and might go better on a hotdog.

FANTASTIC way to celebrate getting through a Monday! Super-clean and welcoming environment, highlighted by the decorative fireplace. Our cool, refreshing beer on tap was the perfect compliment to the dozen chicken wings we ordered. The wings were PERFECTLY cooked – nice and crisp, with just the right seasonings (try the sweet and spicy mixed with hot sauce – an accident became our favorite flavor!) Our server Ben was amazing – super friendly, courteous and attentive. Food came out quickly, and we could not have asked for a better experience. Great job, Tap Room!!

We’ve been to this location several times and always had good food and good service. Tonight we had probably the best server ever! Had a family birthday party of about 20 people , Brandon did an amazing job, got us extra chairs and tables, was friendly, and went above and beyond. Thank you so much.

Bacon egg and cheese with peppers and onions….there may have been an entire sty’s worth of CRISPY bacon on this sandwich. Service was out of this world. Jackie, if you see this, you really turned week around.

This isn’t about this location service or food specifically. They actually work real hard and are excellent in what they do. However their is one thing that is bothersome and lacking. It is a managerial responsibility. It’s about taking responsibility for cleanliness and safety in outdoor dining areas. The location naturally attracts birds, especially pigeons, which results in droppings where people are supposed to eat. That’s not just unpleasant. It’s a public health concern.
What’s most concerning is the lack of proactive action. Rather than preventing birds from nesting by sealing crevices or using humane deterrents like spikes or screens, it appears action is only taken after nests are discovered. Today, I noticed a broken egg on the ground, land a nest that had been pulled from the rafters . The mother bird still sat in the rafters without her egg. I don’t know who moved it, and I’m not saying Bill Gray’s is directly responsible, but it does suggest there’s an ongoing issue.
Adding to the concern, the outdoor tables are often left with condiments, leftover food from patrons, and napkin stations still out overnight. This not only attracts more birds and pests, but also shows that no one is thoroughly checking or securing the area before closing.
If this is a known problem and this has been going on year after year , the responsible choice is to invest in prevention. It is safer, more humane, and ultimately protects both customers and wildlife. I hate seeing this happen to something naturally occurring in this area and while i know it’s a problem small steps can be taken to really reduce the issue.

Bill Gray’s has been a Rochester home town staple for years. Every time that I am back home, I make it a point to stop there. I always the Bacon Bleu Burger, dressed. Why? Because the don’t call it “The World’s Greatest Cheeseburger” for nothing.
