I drove 7 hours for this burger. I grew up eating it when visiting family and if this restaurant ever goes out of business I will actually need time to grieve. All you need to order is the famous cheeseburger (first item on the menu). Order it plain with cheese and Bill Grays sauce on the side. Make it a meal with the crinkle cut fries and a drink. Then get Abbotts when you’re done (chocolate almond is the best). Boom you’ve had the perfect day.

Usually I don’t have an issue with this place. I ordered online a chicken finger kids meal and got chocolate milk it was expired. My niece was very upset because the milk tastes funny. So I tried it and she was right it was gross. I looked at the date and it said February 19th. Today is February 28th. Before putting things in the bag need to check the expiration dates on things before you give it to a costumer. Just very upsetting when a child is upset because she was looking forward to have chocolate milk.

We ordered a fish fry with Fries and Baked brand as sides. Plus two burgers and another order of fries. The order was perfect. Thank you.
Prior to going into the restaurant, was not in the most positive state of mind. However as turned away from the counter and the restaurant representative that took took care of me , he said something to me that did not understand.
asked him, “What did U just say” he looked me in my eyes, and kindly stated, “I said ‘You have a great rest of your day sir’”.
This instantly changed my mood to positive.
Well done young man. did not get his name but he was a young medium to dark brown African American slim male. He made represented Bill Grey s well.

Not the same Bill Gray’s I remember. It’s been a long time since I’ve lived in the Roc. So, when I came home and wanted a piece of haddock someone suggested Bill Gray’s. I have great memories from 20+ years ago of it being a solid option from both fish and burgers. Well, that doesn’t appear to be the case anymore. The fish was soggy and almost flavorless and the burger was fried to a hockey puck like status. Needless to say I was very disappointed. I guess it’s true that nothing stays the same.

Staff was nice, didn’t get half of what we ordered. Wanted a plain cheeseburger with two sides of fries and a garbage plate with two shakes. Instead we got one side of fries, two burgers with everything on it, plate was fine and shakes were too. But we basically got the opposite of half our order.

Really great service and excellent burgers! They aren’t cheap so you shouldn’t eat here unless you use coupons which are available for free from their website. In my opinion this is one of the best if not the best garbage plate options in Rochester. Good hot sauce and comes with two burgers.

The Bill Grays version of the classic Rochester Garbage Plate is a classic and so good even with basic Mac and Cheese. Sweet Potato Fries and meat sauce are so good too. Filling and comfort food overfilled me.

Update 1/27/26. I was able to go from 4 to 5 Stars today because of the service at Bill Gray’s. The food was excellent. I should have took a picture. But you’ll just have to take my word for it. I had the bacon cheeseburger with everything on it. It was so big I could not hold it without getting the ingredients all over the place so I use the fork and a knife. Flavor-wise it was fantastic. One employee in particular caught my eye. The young man has been working here for two or three years now. His name is Lance. And this guy doesn’t quit. He runs around here cleaning up all the messes, he’s very cordial to the customers, I haven’t seen anybody in a restaurant that works probably as hard as he does. I’d like to commend Bill Gray’s in Irondequoit for hiring this individual, he’s a great asset to this team. So if you want a fantastic burger at a really decent price come to Bill Gray’s in Irondequoit on East Ridge Road. You will not be disappointed.
