This place is killer! Every bite is carefully and thoughtfully crafted. Awesome trout dip, Wellington, and Steak Frites. Best steak I can remember having honestly. Nicole just took the BEST care of us. Truly amazing service, ambiance, food, vibes. Petaluma is lucky to have Bijou! See y’all again soon. 6 stars.

Update: We’ve been to Bijou a few times in the last few months. Mostly for drinks and small bites at the bar. Really enjoy their cocktails and their bartenders, Andre, Deandre and Alyssa are very friendly and into their craft. The food has been excellent. Last night we had the Squash Rings, Cobb Salad, Slider (which was amazing) and Steak Frites. All was very yummy and beautifully presented. Super glad that Bijou is here!
June 2025: We were excited to try out Bijou and went last Sunday. It was their third day of operation and they had a small “soft opening menu” which is understandable. We started off with cocktails. My Vieuxx Carre was beautifully prepared. There were three appetizer options and we tried the chips and the petite duck. The remoulade with the chips was nice. The Petite Duck was like a duck salad in a panini. If you took some shreds off the duck it was very tasty, otherwise it gets overwhelmed by the bread. Next I wanted an Indulge Me cocktail (basically a Manhattan with an Amaro or sometimes called a Black or Italian Manhattan) and a Steak Frites. Unfortunately they were out of the steak. I wasn’t in the mood for the Beef Wellington so opted for the Halibut. Unfortunately the Halibut was over salted and over cooked. The Russian River Chardonnay was very nice though over priced at $25/glass. My wife shared half her Beef Wellington with me and it was excellent. For dessert we shared the Millefeulle – the cream was awesome, the pastry just ok.
The hostess is very nice and the waitress tried her best – she was new to waitressing and did well.
So overall, mixed results – some highlights and some disappointments. Maybe understandable given they just opened. Hoping to come back in a few months and have a five star experience.

I went here on a Saturday and ate from their brunch menu. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with salmon. The Benedict arrived on the cold side, and Jesus Christ it was a salt bomb. I have never had hollandaise sauce that salty before in my life and hollandaise sauce honestly wasn’t that good. I have had better eggs Benedict at Boulevard Café and their hollandaise sauce was pretty on point. Yes, the picture makes the eggs Benedict look amazing, but pictures can be deceiving.

Had a phenomenal dinner here last night! Such a cozy atmosphere with attentive staff. The Pêche du Jour, Cheese Fondant, & Pavlova dessert were all beautifully plated. I enjoyed the Shishito pepper starter as well, but I was too hungry to get a photo of it first. Every dish was unique & flavorful, & paired wonderfully with the Rhône wine that my server recommended. My mom enjoyed the Beef Wellington & the Melon Marvel mocktail. We’ll definitely be back! I’m going to be dreaming of that fish dish until then, & I would love to explore their creative cocktail list.

We were excited to dine at Bijou within a few days of opening. It’s clear they have potential, but have work to do before becoming a destination spot. First, the “soft opening” menu was odd. The table next to us said they loved the Fondant, but when we ordered it, they were out. Our reservation was for 6:30pm so this seemed strange. It was early in the night and it was primarily cheese, so how do you run out? The main options left me wanting. It included beef Wellington, steak frites and halibut (or some similar fish). Why not include a vegetarian option or fowl? We tried the saffron risotto and there was not one sign of saffron nor was it creamy and delicious like a risotto. The simple salad was dressed well and the fries were cooked perfectly, but this is not enough to warrant the prices. We also liked the fried leeks, but that dish wouldn’t bring me back. I looked at an SF Chronicle preview and it describes many wonderful dishes, but why were they not on the menu?

The staff was very friendly and accommodating, including splitting a plate for my wife and me and putting it on separate plates. The owner, Marta was very friendly and stopped by our table to chat. My wife and I shared the steak-frites and the steak was the best I had ever had (either in the U.S. or France)! Les frites(the fries) were average. The menu was very limited. We had two desserts – the crême brulée was quite good but the bûche de Noël was below average. I was disappointed with their policy of a 5% surcharge “for a fair wage for the staff” which is out of line. It was indicated on the menu and if we hadn’t been meeting friends there, I would have left because of it. If a restaurant can’t afford to pay its staff appropriately, they’re doing something wrong. I feel strongly about this and because of it, I won’t be back. This isn’t a Michelin Star restaurant and there are plenty of quality restaurants in Petaluma from which to choose. I gave them a four star rating due to the steak

Had a lovely diner last night at Bijou. The beef wellington was phenomenal. Crispy and flaky texture on the outside, melt-in-your-mouth beef, and fantastic flavor throughout. We loved the cheese fondant and the risotto. The service was very well done too – great timing, recommendations, and just enough attentiveness. Glad to see this space back up and running, and we’re excited to see how the menu evolves moving forward.

After waiting months to try Bijou, I finally made my way to Petaluma and booked the reservation. It was worth every penny. We were greeted warmly and sat quickly in a corner booth, which I consider the best seat in the house. Our server was great and helped us pair wine perfectly with our meal. We ordered rolls, beef wellington, the duck, and a pavlova for dessert. Each plate, bite, and garnish was curated perfectly. I appreciated the whole experience, having no rush and a welcoming vibe. I will be back.

Beautiful modern redesign and fantastic service! The drinks and fish were excellent, but the meal felt incomplete with just vegetables and no starch or accompaniments. For the high prices (especially for the area), I expected a more substantial plate and more menu variety. Wonderful atmosphere, but a bit limited for what you get.
