Bigsy’s is one of those classic neighborhood bars that just nails it with strong drinks, great wings, reasonable prices, and a fun, laid-back atmosphere where you can shoot pool and hang with friends. The staff and bartenders are awesome and make you feel like a regular right away, and it’s the kind of place where you stop in for one and somehow end up staying all night avoiding the countless missed calls from the wife.
When we walked in, my buddy looked around and said, “no joke, I don’t think you can handle this place,” and honestly… he might’ve been right. It’s got that perfect chaotic, packed, good-vibes energy that makes for a great night out. If you want a real bar with personality, this is your spot.

I was just telling my brother Michael Friedman that I call my best friend Monique Danford of Rhode Island (originally from New Milford CT)Bigsby -we’ve been using that name for many many years now – we made a side trip to Scranton from the then home base in our Christmas vacation getaway in the Poconos in 1998 so she has been to Scranton once – at the time I was living in Byram
Township New Jersey and she was starting her freshman year at Johnson & Wales University in Providence. but my grandfather Sidney Friedman worked for Peerless Petroleum/Citgo and was at one time Exalted Ruler of the Elks club in Scranton. His wife was Lillian. Does anybody remember a fellow named Bunsey that my grandfather Sydney used to hang out with in the ’60s and probably ’70s?
I can remember meeting up with Bunsy and having brunch in downtown Scranton along with Sidney of course. That must have been his nickname so I have not been able to track him down at all as far as what became of him. Lillian’s sister was Ruth Weiss also of Scranton. Remember fondly Cooper’s restaurant of course it’s still there – I haven’t been there recently though but I researched it and other famous Italian restaurants in the area where Sidney always insisted on his soup being served piping hot and probably every 5 or 10 minutes somebody would stop by the table that knew my grandparents exclaiming “Hi how are ya?!” They lived at 1140 Olive Street which is of course still there.

This is a great place to grab a drink shoot some pool and have an awesome meal. I usually only go here for League nights when we’re playing but it’s a great experience those Wednesdays. The staff is awesome as well

Wings were great. Had the red garlic Caesar parm and the porketta. Porketta is perfect. Real friendly crowd, always seems busy

One of the last great bars most won’t ever get to expirence. Do yourself a favor and put it on your bucket list before it’s to late. Anyone from the older fun days will know exactly what I mean.

Unfriendly staff. Food went way downhill. I’ve never been treated that ignorant anywhere else. They have lost a lot of customers.

The people…the atmosphere …the service.. you can’t find a more down to earth spot to kick back after a long day and unwind. I find that it’s nice to unplug from the main Street pubs and enjoy a peaceful time with locals who are friendly and open. The prices are just amazing and if you are here more than once, you’ll be amazed at how they remember you. The average crowd is 40+. Good times here

I catered food from here for a birthday party & all I have to say is wow! Not only were they incredibly accommodating because it was a last second request but Marie was so helpful when I asked for suggestions on what to order. She could not have been more kind.
I ordered 2 half pans: one of the fettuccine chicken Alfredo with broccoli (it was amazing!) and a half pan of the butter garlic chicken over rice (too good!) — it was a total hit & everybody loved it! The food was delicious! I am so glad someone recommended this place & I will be ordering from here again.
For reference: the 2 half pans were more then enough to feed the 8 people that attended.
