Love this place. Own brewed beer, whiskey and vodka! Great selection of drinks and plenty of tasty food as well. Had some fried brussel sprouts instead of fries which were great if you don’t mind the flavor. Forgot to leave the tip after getting some change so popped it through the door for Emily a couple of days later

My husband and I really enjoyed our experience at Big Woods. The food and drinks were delicious and the environment was busy as expected. We had their pizza and brussel sprouts which were both excellent. Their drinks were made to order and fairly priced for the area.
Parking is paid street parking like most places in the area.
There was a wait, but for a Friday night, it was expected and we ended up sitting at the bar.
Not sure if they are kid-friendly, but it was a typical restaurant-bar environment.

If you are in or near Bloomington, IN looking for some authentic made to order cuisine and eat in a historical location then this is a must stop. There is something here for everyone and everything looks delicious and well prepared. The ambiance is very warm and welcoming and staff are very friendly and accommodating. They have a nice selection of their own brews to go with the awesome food.

Had the brisket nachos, and let me just say that there were like 3 pieces of brisket on it. The cheese was a glue like consistency, caking everything together. Terrible choice for an appetizer. Next, I decided to have the hard truth whiskey burger medium rare, but what I received was so cooked it was dry as a bone. The fries had the life cooked out of them and were not at all palatable. 20 bucks for a mediocre byrger is unacceptable. The guy waiting for our table was not very attentive, and the atmosphere was claustrophobic. I would use liquid cheese on the nachos and stop overcooking everything. Also, why on earth are employees allowed to drink while on the job? Under no circumstances should this be allowed. I will not be back. Very disappointing experience, man. The big woods in downtown indy is fantastic.

I usually love this place. We order online through grub hub and tried to take advantage of one of their deals. Wings pizza and bread sticks. We also ordered a pretzel and beer cheese. In the end the restaurant had run completely out of dough. So no pizza and no breadsticks. No communication from the restaurant or grub hub on the inability to provide these items so when our order arrived we were very disappointed. Not only was over half the order missing but their quality has simply gone down. The wings tasted old. (I know the y smoke and store them, then reheat for service) but these were so dry that they must have been smoked several days ago. Not to mention how a restaurant in prime location in a college town can run out on a primary ingredient on the friday before the super bowl. The pretzel was supposed to be our saving grace but half of it was so hard it was inedible. So to restate our order was half missing and the other half was poorly executed and delivered. GET IT TOGETHER BIG WOODS. monitor your online ordering and learn to pay attention to local activities and order product accordingly.

Ordered the “Signature” pulled pork sandwich ($15.99). Figuring this is on their menu more than once and labeled with “Signature”; it cannot be too bad. It came with the sauce on the side rather than mix with the pork. I was not giving any utensils other than napkins so I can not easily mix the sauce with pork. As a result there is no consistent flavor throughout and a bit disappointing. BBQ sauce is way too sweet. The fires, buns, pickle are all good though.. if just the kitchen staff can control the food quantity and flavor before the dish got send out to customers. I don’t mind extra sauce provided for consideration if the pulled pork already fully seasoned, but not totally unflavored.

Quaint little place for a quick bite and some brews! Staff was friendly and the food was good. We had breadsticks with nacho cheese and garlic butter…absolutely delicious! Then we both got our own 10” pizzas. Hubby got hand tossed crust with pepperoni and banana peppers, and I had the Primal pizza with a thin crust. Pretty good stuff! Give this place a try if in the area!

Great food. Wonderful selection of drinks from their very own brewery and distillery. Seasonal drinks are fun and creative. I often order their wings with the bourbon sauce. Brussels sprouts are also very delicious. Small bar area that plays the IU games but doesn’t get too busy or rowdy.

I gotta give this place all 5s because I thoroughly enjoyed my date night there! The wings are probably the best I’ve ever had. They’re smoked and dry but coupled with the very yummy house made blue cheese and maple bourbon sauce…ugh, so delicious. Had the cinnamon espresso-tini, he had a Bloody Mary and then both tried the drafts of Quaffons strawberry six fit blonde and peanut butter knuckle. Also, delicious. Now, to be fair, it was a Friday and very busy. The atmosphere goals are a 5 but it’s actually very close and tight spaces. We had to squeeze between tables and rub elbows with strangers to get to the bar. Our bartender was slammed and I think she forgot about us but. Not to hold it against her too much as we were low maintenance and enjoying our time. Oh, the bacon in the Bloody Mary stayed crunchy! We were actually so full from the wings and drinks that we didn’t have dinner as originally planned..and good thing because our names were never called from the waitlist and we were there over an hour. But overall, wonderful visit! Will return, likely!
