Our go to spot for brunch, and breakfast… I’ve been coming here for a long time. The food and service is always top notch Jeremy, who manages the bar was our server today and he was phenomenal as usual. We got our usual brunch dishes and they were fantastic. Jeremy fixed me a spicy bloody Mary, which was so delicious. We will be back again!

Came here for a Sunday “brunch”.

Great experience overall; food was great, including the full house breakfast spread and the veggie burger.

All 3 employees I spoke to were very friendly and nice. Clean place

Will return! Happy to find this gem right here in my backyard.

We eat at Big View every month or so. One of our favorite places. This time, tho, the spinach pie (my favorite) was doughy rather than crisp. Sigh. Update: we got a slice of coconut cake to go. We’ve never had bad cake from Big View before but this slice of cake was dried out. Prob cut days ago. We didn’t even finish. So disappointing $10 a slice and no one wanted to finish.

Everything we had was delicious but in comparison the prices are way higher than most for similar food. I’ll give credit the portions were good size and the server was awesome. I just can’t fathom $18 for a burger, $17 for my breakfast, $10 for a slice of cake etc very often.

It’s worth going because like I said the food is really good but it’s not somewhere I’m going to go very often. I wanted to pay those kind of prices I would go to an upscale restaurant

Atmosphere was quiet and we were sat immediately. The server (Andrew) went above and beyond, even though we came in near closing time. The food was absolutely delicious! I am very happy we found this. We will be returning!

*UPDATE TO ORIGNAL POST:
I am responding to the restaraunt’s response to my original post, as well as providing clarity on what happened the night of and when we did finally make contact…….

1. The night of the event mentioned and my review was posted:

Once we realized the food was inedible, we tried calling, but there was no answer. As a result, we were unable to address the issues, hence was left with no food to eat (food was inedible). This was both an inconvenience and a stressor since our stove/oven had just broke that night, so we could not cook, hence why we ordered out.

Note: With this being our third issue in a row with their food, I decided to take time to post a review that night (I did not post any reviews with the other previous events).

With the previous events, we simply called as a courtesy to give them a heads up about the issues, thinking maybe it was a fluke; however, they just apologized and that was it. Didn’t compensate in any way and obviously did not improve their quality control issues.

2. What happened when we actually connected with a manger at a later date:

Since we could not get ahold of them the night of, we tried calling again during open hours and were told they could not rectify/reimburse our issue over the phone and that we would have to come in (another inconvenience).

They also said they had saw my Google review and wish we would have reached out to them first, for them to rectify it before posting the review (Note: I did do this the previous times we had issues and got nowhere).

Them saying this rubbed me the ring way. It seemed a bit like they were more concerned with keeping negative reviews off Google, than fixing their issues and servicing their customers appropriately from the start. Hence making sure that their paying customers don’t have to go through all this trouble constantly.

Needless to say, my husband having to go in to get the issue rectified, rather than taking care of it via phone, was just yet another inconvenience and time taken away from the paying customer.

Needless to say, all this combined was the limit for us! Although we appreciate that they eventually ended up refunding us THIS TIME……as a paying customer, we prefer good quality food and service and not have to be the one to be inconvenienced when they are the one making the mistakes. This is putting too much responsibility on the paying customer.

We just ask that you be more proactive in preventing such issues, rather than being reactive and allowing them to continue.

*ORIGINAL REVIEW POST:
Placed a pick up order (both basic southern staples and diner food):
1. Chicken Fried Steak
2. Chicken Pot Pie

Chicken Fried Steak: Coating on the Chicken Fried Steak was thick and overcooked. The gravy’s texture was sooo thick and dried out, that it didn’t even look or feel like gravy. It tasted like flour and its texture felt like you were eating paste. A southern staple…..very disappointing!

Chicken Pot Pie: Both the onions and celery were raw!! They were hard/crunchy and the onion flavor was very overpowering! Not to mention, the turkey also tasted “off” as well.

Needless to say, the meals were both uneditable.

To top it off, my husband went to pick up the take out order we called in, but the front door was locked (before closing time-no sign on the door). So he had to go searching on how to get in. He found a side patio door open, so he went in that way. Note: They were not closed yet and people were still eating in the restaraunt.

This was our third, less than favorable meal, that we have had from there lately. Was hoping they were just having a bad night with the previous times, hence giving them another chance without posting a negative review. However, after the third negative experience, I had to post.

Between the prices and the poor quality, it doesn’t look like we will be returning. Miss how good and affordable diner food used to be! Sad to see yet another restaurant go down hill in the area.

Haven’t ate here in a while but I definitely tell the quality has changed there was more mushrooms and beef ! I haven’t ate here in a few years maybe they switched honors I’m not sure but it used to be braised beef like more shredded and this one’s like cubed and it was very little beef in it just a lot of sauce a lot of noodles and a lot of mushrooms which I love mushroom but I would expect to see more meat ! And it was also very salty I don’t know if it’s because I DoorDash it I’m not sure it was very hot and the driver was excellent but the food quality is definitely not worth it!

Last night my wife and I came in for a late dinner. Pretty empty since I think it was less than an hour to close. We ordered and had a great meal but our server was very unattentive and “MIA” mostly. Presumably cleaning up and we get that. We had to go to the bar to get the bill which was also not correct. Simple mistakes easily fixed and they were. The host saw our frustration (little things that compounded a bit) and he decided to just let us dine free and chose not to charge us. I felt a little guilty at first since I own several businesses and felt the issues were not that big a deal, but then really felt appreciated as a customer that someone made such a quick decision to treat us. Which wasn’t necessary. Just a note letting you know that as Charlotte has been exploding in population and so many new places and often run fly by night, you’ve got some good people working there and if your prices need to go up to pay them well and keep them, that’s just the way it is. Very well done and one of our south charlotte favorites. Great food, great people, and consistency. But most important treating customers like people. Well done.

Rather disappointing experience.

I ordered the Big Beef Brisket with Green Beans and French Onion Soup.

The soup was bland. I honestly can say i didn’t find a single Onion in the soup. There was very little flavor. It was not very hot either.

The Brisket was plain. Little to no seasoning on the meat or in the gravy.

The green beans were nicely done.

My husband and I decided to spend Valentine’s Day having breakfast at this restaurant, and it turned out to be a terrible mistake. Unfortunately, it cost our family our health.

The food was extremely disappointing, especially for the price. The “fries” were nothing like proper fries at all. They were overcooked, stale, and tasted like they had been sitting out for a long time. Everything else we ordered was just as bad. I honestly cannot remember the last time I had such an unpleasant dining experience.

Shortly after eating there, we both became sick with symptoms of food poisoning. As I am currently breastfeeding, my baby also became ill and suffered from diarrhea and she still has not recovered.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was beyond disappointing – it was dangerous. The lack of quality and apparent disregard for food safety is shocking.

PLEASE STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE
