I recently visited Big Town Hero in Albany and while my sandwich was made well and tasted great, the customer service completely ruined the experience. When I walked in, I exchanged smiles with a few gentlemen in the lobby and went to the counter where three employees were working: an older woman, a younger girl making sandwiches, and another girl with long brown hair clipped up who was eating and drinking in the food prep area. When she noticed me, I smiled, but she only gave a half-smile and walked straight into the kitchen instead of taking my order. A moment later the phone rang, and she came out to answer it. She took the phone order right away even though I had been standing there waiting the whole time. After she took his order, she finally took mine. What really disappointed me was what happened next. She went back to the sandwich line and began talking about me to the other employee, loudly enough for me to hear clearly from the lobby. She accused me of giving her dirty looks, even though I was wearing sunglasses because my head hurt, and I hadn’t said a single rude word to her. Hearing an employee talk badly about a customer while the customer is still standing right there was shocking. When my sandwich was finished, she came out and practically tossed it onto the counter with a nasty expression on her face. It was incredibly unprofessional and honestly humiliating. I’m very disappointed in the way I was treated. Someone working in customer service should at least show basic respect, and this experience made me not want to return, no matter how good the food is.

Besides the menu pics were WAY outdated (I added new menu pics), the bread was so fluffy and food was quick and fresh. Finished it before I thought to take a pic of the sandwich.
Courteous staff. Clean lobby though a bit outdated, but that doesn’t affect the food. 😉

Im 9months pregnant 2 weeks from the due date I just got out of the hospital and didn’t want to wait a hour at the hospital for my ride so I walked to big Town hero and asked if I can sit and wait and plug in my phone and you can very clearly tell I’m about to have a baby and I just got out of the hospital since I still had the bracelet on and the blonde lady very rudely says to me ( are you gonna buy food first then you can sit and wait and charge your phone )
There was absolutely no reason to be rude and use the tone of voice she used.
I work in fast food and I would NEVER treat or talk to a pregnant lady like that or anyone like that it’s unprofessional.

Big Town always has excellent food. This location just added the garlic, herb, and cheese bread, which is the best bread they make! On a busy lunch day, they handed me my food before I was done filling my drink. Great service.

The staff was delightful. The food was superior to any of the other sub places in town. The bread alone is worth the trip. Happy, clean atmosphere. Check it out!
