The restaurant was wonderfully decorated with tons of nostalgic items from the 80s and 90s. Lots of movie posters, figures, and games that will spark “all the nostalgia” while you eat.
The staff was wonderful, can answer any question you might have about the food or the restaurant. Definitely put this place on your “Must Go” list if you’re a Spokane local or from out of town.
This is not fast food pizza that all tastes the same, this is dinner. Dinner that was homemade and you’re eating with your family. So much cheese and so little grease. Vegetables were tasty and expertly prepared along with a hearty but not tart sauce. This will be what we order now. This is authentic. You will be full and satisfied.
I am from Spokane and met my Chicago-born wife 23 years ago. We frequently travel to Chicago and enjoy Chicago style deep dish pizza as much as possible. Our absolute favorite go-to deep dish is Giordano’s. We have had others (Lou Malnati’s, Gino’s, etc), but Giordano’s has always been the favorite. My wife and I have been married for 16 years and we have dreamed of having authentic Chicago deep dish nearby. We have tried places in Seattle who claim to be authentic, but we always came away disappointed.
We have even ordered the Giordono’s to be shipped to our house from Chicago. You receive it frozen and bake it yourself – it was good, but very expensive.
When I saw the post about Big Reds selling authentic deep dish, I knew we needed to get over there asap.
We called ahead to have them make the pizza for dine-in (this is what we always do with Giordano’s). I recommend this because the pizza takes 40 minutes to make. When we arrived, the pizza was already made and we were eating right away.
The crust is slightly different than Giordano’s, but I actually PREFER Big Reds crust. Giordano’s is more similar to a pie crust, while Big Reds is closer to a pizza crust. Whatever it is, its delicious – don’t change it!
Immediately after our first bite, we knew this was the real deal. I can’t even tell you how excited we are to have this in Spokane. If you have never had Chicago deep dish before, or if you have and want to relive it, go and give it a try.
