Big Reds BBQ

This was the perfect weeknight date night for me and my husband. The service is always amazing. The food is always delicious. I got the brisket and the collard greens and the corn. It was all so delicious. They also have homemade barbecue sauce sauces on the table for you to use and each one is so yummy. The service is always on point and it really makes you feel like you’re in that small town hometown feel when you get to talk to the owner and the cook before they bring out your food. I highly recommend this restaurant if you have a craving for barbecue, but don’t have the time to cook it so grateful to have this place in our community!

I meet a friend for lunch in Oroville often. I looked around for something new and discovered Big Reds on Google.
We tried it out
Friendly staff, comfortable dining area, great decor and music, and most importantly the food. BBQ usually makes me think higher price. But it’s worth it when you have the craving. Big Reds was surprisingly priced nice. And better yet, the portions and quality are note worthy. I will definitely be going back and looking forward to it.

Please take your money to Garrett’s Back Home BBQ food truck if you want to experience actual BBQ. This was really depressing. Food took an extra 30 min., waited an hour overall. Cheese sauce on the Mac was thin and watery. Meat was hard and flavorless. $20 for this plate and it’s mostly noodles. Elote is canned or frozen corn in a container, with the normal mix ins just thrown on top. plus $7 for this size elote or coleslaw is an insane mark up, especially for the quality. Maybe like a white trash esque grandpa that’s been living off of microwave dinners is good to go here but…I would never, ever eat here again.

We decided to try a restaurant we hadn’t been to before so we decided on Bid Red’s….BIG mistake. I hate to write a poor review on a mom and pop restaurant but… My husband had the tri-tip combo. Sadly, the meat was so tough he literally could not eat it even cutting it was a chore. The Philly Cheese Steak fries had amazing potential but it was hard to find any meat. The meat I did have was absolutely delicious .
We will not be back but glad we tried.

Big Red’s was extremely delicious, and welcoming as they usually are all the time. Me and my wife came here after delivering so many orders for DoorDash from here a while ago now, but since then we have made two amazing friends, ~ Lucky and Trevor, the owners! Every time we come in here or Unicone which they also own(also extremely good btw) they are always giving their best service! This time we went we had brought my mother in law from France who’s never traveled outside of France, and she wanted to try some good American cooking. I had the two combo meat plate with elote and potato salad, meats being Brisket and Tri-tip. Oh boy was it delicious, and my mother in law thought so as well!

My husband used to love this place! He would hype it up so much to me. So one day we were pacing by and decided to stop by(not knowing of the new owners until we ordered). We walk in and order the food, he said menu still was the same so we decided to see if it’s as good as before.
We ordered chili with tritip, parts of the chili was cold. Seemed like they microwaved it. Taste and texture is different from before not good at all. Since I tried this food for the first time I didn’t like it and my husband was much more disappointed because he had something to compare it to. We also ordered loaded Mac n cheese. Also was not good tasted bland and had barely any cheese, again seemed like it was microwaved. Not happy with our food. Let’s just say I wouldn’t want to come back again. Unless they go back to the way they were before; fresh and delicious not this microwaved box food quality. Picture below for comparison.

Wonderful bit of Barbecue at Big Reds in Oroville. The brisket they only have on the weekends is best I’ve had north of Bakersfield. The burgers and fries are delicious. The loaded Mac and cheese is a family favorite. The elite corn is awesome.

I had heard the Big Reds was under new ownership and came to check it out. The place was super clean and busy when we got there. Trevor and Lucky (the new owners) both greeted our group and were super friendly.

The food was excellent. I got the 3 meat combo with jalapeño cheddar sausage, Tri-tip, and ribs. Everything was cooked perfectly. The ribs were melt in your mouth tender. Their Elote Street corn paired great along with the Mac and cheese. My kids both got burgers that were delicious and a great value. My wife got chicken and ribs so we were quite full. Great portions. (I took my pic after attacking the Mac and cheese)

Definitely recommend checking them out if you haven’t yet or haven’t since Trevor and Lucky took over.

I have always went to eat here but today I desided I would finally try the burgers I asked a few questions and the girl behind the counter acted like it was an inconvenience I have never had there burgers befor always the BBQ so I had originally gave them a 1 star becuse how she was acting but after Trevor came out a few times to explain the situation I must change my review the burger was great and I had alot of choices where to get one today I really must say I was really surprised in how much effort he put into making it and him making sure I didnt leave with the impression I had thanks for the lunch and explanation about your new employee I myself have delt with similar situations at my old restaurant/bar so I completely understand i will now be coming back to try the items I have never tried befor great job to you Trevor and your wife for all the effort you put into your business and people skills will take you far
