Honestly… this place is such a vibe.
We stopped by Big Nick’s in Hanalei on Friday around 4:30 PM, not even super hungry, but we wanted something quick and local before the evening plans. The spot is small and simple (in a good way), and it feels like the kind of place that’s been doing their thing forever — no fake “tourist trap energy.”
What we ordered:
• I got the Big Nick’s Burger
• My wife got the Da Local Plate
• Total for two: $49
First of all — my wife’s Da Local Plate was a straight-up 5/5. The flavors were on point and it just tasted fresh and satisfying. She was genuinely happy with it (which is always the real test).
My burger was solid. Not the best burger I’ve ever had in my life, but definitely good — juicy, filling, and hits the spot. If I’m being honest, I probably wouldn’t reorder that exact burger again… but I’d 100% come back here and try something else from the menu because the food quality feels legit.
Overall, it’s a great local stop. Simple, tasty, and real.

Delicious and a must try in Hanalei!
We stopped in for an early lunch and were glad we did. We got a Teri chicken bowl and a Chili Pepper Chicken plate. Both were tasty, but I by far preferred the Teri chicken. The amount of Char and sauce in the Teri chicken was like a match made in heaven. The rice was sticky, the potato salad was top notch, and I loved the added flavor from the green onion they put on both. The bowl was a good a good portion for most, while I’d say the plate is what someone with a big appetite should roll with! In our case, I was good with a bowl for lunch, and the plate was plenty for my wife to share with a 2 year old and 4 year old haha. They have indoor and outdoor seating, place is in great shape, and staff were all nice. Worth a stop, 100%

Probably the best place to eat in Hanalei! Highly recommend trying the “da local plate” – the beef and chicken with that insanely good sauce were next level. The potato salad that comes on the side is also amazing.
My husband ordered a burger, and the patty was incredibly tender and juicy.
Service was fast and super friendly, and we had dinner on their cute patio with a view of the mountains, which made the whole experience even better. Such a great vibe.
Prices are totally reasonable for a place like this. Defintely recommend stopping by!

We had a bite at Big Nick’s for a whole family. Everything we ordered was absolutely great and delicious, burgers are very juicy, we had big Nick which was special. I also recommend asian chicken salad and local plate. The place is a little tight on seating, but you can seat outside. Location is also suitable as its along the main road. Highly recommend! Spend $126 for family of two adults and four kids.

Big Nick’s offers solid BBQ and is one of the better options in busy/touristy Hanalei. Pulled pork, chicken, etc. are all winners and highly recommended. Small tables for dining in, can get take out as well, turn around time for orders isn’t bad either. Great spot for a delicious and filling meal.

We got recommended this place by our driver on the shuttle to the Kalalau trail. A couple said they had already ate there twice. So, we headed over and half the people in our shuttle van were there.
Food was incredible. We got “Da Local Plate”. The Mac salad was unreal, the flavor in the beef strips was incredible and drained into the rice. I loved the shrimp as well. The chicken was the perfect blend of sauce/spice/and smoke.
We ended up eating here a second time in which I got extra Mac. Dreamed about eating here the rest of my time in Kauai (and even now).

The burger was okay (not worth $23), but the local combo plate was disappointing. The rice was so hard that I went to inform the cashier, and his response was, “That’s the best way to eat it.” Horrible service—he didn’t even seem to care. I can’t understand how they can serve undercooked rice like that! They should’ve put it on the menu so, I didn’t have to pay for that horrible plate. I would never go back, as it’s clear they don’t care about serving properly cooked food. For the price, I suggest go somewhere else! These people have no aloha!

Got multiple different varieties of burgers w/ fries, fried chicken sandwich, and teriyaki chicken w/rice. Fast, delicious, medium pricey but i would drive for that teriyaki chicken omg so perfectly cooked. No option for gf bun kind of a bummer. But dang 7 people and all orders were correct! Inside small but cute w/4 small 4-seat tables and a bit of outside seating too which is nice. Great hawaii vibe!
