This is a hometown spot for sure with good BBQ. The sides were okay. But the BBQ and Bouldin balls and staff are worth going here definitely. The wait staff was very friendly and accommodating. They are proud and enthusiastic to explain how The place came to be. It’s a great story.The place is older but clean. The owner actually calls to make sure everything is okay. It says a lot about how he cares for not just the business and it reflects in the staff. It can be difficult to parkif the small lot is full. But definitely try it if you can.

Beware Smokers.
Great food, brisket sandwich was great onion rings were on point sweet tea was also great. There was a problem that might affect some and not others. After we sat down a 4 some came in and sat 1 table away from us. Once seated 2 of the 4 started smoking cigarettes. In an area around 30’x20’ with 8’ ceilings there was a smoke cloud above us. After sitting there for about 10 minutes it was just too much for us. We asked the server to box our food up to go. We took it home and ate. It was disappointing for us after reading all the 5* reviews. We were excited to have a new place for dinners out. It didn’t work out for us. Again there may be many who approve of smoking in restaurants and that’s ok. It just isn’t for us and others should know to expect it. We wouldn’t have gone if we knew this before hand. Anyhow good food/ Bad atmosphere.

This is a rare find. We went on a Saturday night for their steak dinner. We walked in to not a fancy restaurant but a quaint down home feeling one. The owners were friendly and welcoming. Now let me tell you…they bring a cart with the ribeye to your table with a scale, he cuts the steak to the size you want ($2.25 oz). While your steak is being cooked you can enjoy some of the Mrs homemade Chicken and Dumplings as well as the salad bar. Once your steak arrives you can grab a baked potato from the salad bar (if you’d like fries instead, ask for them) and then enjoy the juiciest, well seasoned steak.
We will definitely go back and a highly recommended stop if you’re in the East Texas neighborhood of Cleveland/Romayor

This is a roadside gem!!! We stumbled across this place looking through Google for steaks. Every review was racing about the hospitality and food. It was a Saturday Night and low and behold it was Big Mike’s Steak Night. So we took the 35 mile drive….Big Mike and his family did not disappoint. Nothing fancy, just down home Southern Hospitality and amazing food. The steaks were perfectly cooked and mouth watering. Mikes’ wife’s Chicken & Dumplings we’re unbelievable, I would have ate all that was in the crock pot. Thank you for an amazing diner Big Mike & family!!! We will definitely be going back.

5 time grand champion bbq? Absolutely! This is not your run-of-the-mill cookie cutter barbecue restaurant. With options I both expect from a barbecue restaurant and haven’t seen before at a barbecue restaurant, it doesn’t matter because the flavor given in every thing offered here is beyond good and unlike any I’ve had and I’m am a born and raised Texan. I’m so impressed that I wish I had written the two and three star reviews on other barbecue places that had not left much of an impression on me and I’d leave unmotivated to even write a review on. Steak night yes! Prime rib yes! Chicken and dumplings yes! Brisket balls! Boudin balls! A few of my favorite side items being the sweet potato, loaded baked potato, potato salad, and the sweet cooked sliced carrots. And to top it off an actual variety of desserts and every single one of them delicious! This place always looks clean & smells clean and gives off good vibes that I can relax to as I eat. Nom nomilicious! Oh and I’ve noticed several building improvements inside and out. Owner pride in his business is showing, congratulations Big Mike! ✌️

I paid, $19.00 for a drink,cheeseburger and fries. I was charged for a burger and chips. Then an extra charge for fries. When I asked where were my chips the girl working there told me I don’t get any since I ordered fries. Why was I charged full price for burger and chips then.

This place is open for business! I was cycling by late in the afternoon yesterday, on my way to my campsite, and was so glad to see them there so I could pick up some dinner. First thing, they have awesome service. Hospitality is through the roof! Teresa is a sweetheart! She saw that I was hot and tired as I had been riding all day and offered me a cold bottled water for me while I decided what I want. Second thing, the food is spectacular! This was my first time having Texas boudin and it did not disappoint. The jalapeño boudin had just the right amount of kick but did not overpower the overall flavors. The brisket was also great as well, still soft and tender after reaching my campsite an hour later (couldn’t sit and eat because I had to reach campsite by nightfall). Big Mike knows what he is doing and the newly remodeled place looks awesome.
